As of right now I own 7 Macabi skirts. It is an addiction. (I do have 4 up for sale right now though due to needing to thin the herd). I am 5'4" on a good day, mid-60's, short torso. So comfortable for any kind of travel, plane, boat, train, car and HIKING! I don't even pack pants or shorts on...
I figured it was going to autocorrect no matter what I did! I've worn my Macabi skirts to casinos too since I always wear them on road trips. When we actually retire in a few years I'll be heading back to Spain. Right now my full time job is trying to find a job. Hard when you are 63 and over...
Keen Women's Newport H2 Hiking Sandals Leather size 9 (EU 39.5) Bison Brown. I used these on hot days for hiking nearby trails when training for my caminos. Very comfy! Still have a ton of mileage left in them. TPU stability shank helps protects against trail rock uncomfortableness.
$43...
Dang it all, time to thin the herd. I have priced these with free shipping (Macabi shipping is currently a minimum of $7.30) and lower than the recent sale prices at Macabi. I am keeping my favorites because I've found I like longs vs regulars, I find that I wear the same ones over and over so I...
I'm 5'4" and my legs are the only thing in shape on my right now. Wore Macabi skirts both caminos. No backup. Cold out wore with leggings, warm out wore with mens undies with longer legs. The only time I wasn't wearing my skirt was in the shower or in bed. Just slipped it on in the morning...
Clean hiking T, undies, socks and leggings over freshly showered bod is what I sleep in. In the morning I just slip on my Macabi skirt, boots, morning jacket and away I go. I use my sarong (76-79g if I remember right) as my hair towel and blind for sleeping on the bottom bunk.
I've decided that (ok I decided 2 years ago but never posted) I like my long length Macabi skirts much better than my regular length. I have the following I want to trade (NOT for sale)
1. Size Medium in Charcoal, regular length for a Size Medium or Large in Charcoal Long Length (after all...
My husband has been working on the National Trails of the UK and always carries one button up hiking shirt, one long sleeved Icebreaker and one short sleeved. He wears the button shirt as his evening in town shirt. On the CF I don't think it is necessary except maybe if you spend time in Madrid.
My husband is 63 , walked the CF to Burgos in 2013 and since then (and before) has been working his way through the UK National Trails. Said they are way tough compared to his camino and yes, way more expensive. But enjoys them.
In general I can't handle the feel of synthetics. But I ended up taking a poly liner instead on Camino 2 because I couldn't stand the slick slippery feel of the silk liner.
No no and no thanks. Both of those would give me claustrophobia! (I can do small spaces no problem, what I can't do is clingy things on my body so can't move/toss and turn).
No but I do know most of the words to most Julie Andrews Broadway and movie songs and sing them while I hike! (Camelot, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, Souud of Music)
In 2014 and on one of the earler stages where there is one of the big black 'el Toro de Osborne' on the left of the trail (can't remember what town was coming up) but the trash on the side of the path was so thick that it was stratified. It must have been there for years. I just don't get it...
OK I'll play along!
100% loaded. No problem carry on from my crummy airport to Madrid and back on Delta. Tube with poles plus my boots are in the pack. Pack is a 2014 Mammot Crea Light 40L but in my XS torso size I think I read it is about 37L, Camino load once boots and poles were removed...
I need extra wide footwear plus high volume, plus high instep. I've tried men's too and same problem of the heel area being too large. Measure me on a Brannock device and I am a US7. In Keens I wear a US9. My camino boots (AKA clown shoes) are US10 mids. They give me the width, extra length and...
