Keeping your feet dry is a big step. I had a conversation yesterday with a veteran hiker and said that it is a lot easier to prevent a blister then to cure one. Bill, maybe you could break down your bag into two and keep the smaller one with you on carry on and leave the bigger bulkier one in check in.
