How do you secure your backpack from theft as checked luggage.

I've done this and it worked fine. Agree that unwrapping can be a bit tedious!

If arriving or departing from cities in France

In October 2017 I missed my flight from Paris to Sydney due to a French air traffic controllers strike which left me stuck in Barcelona for about 36 hours. So even air travel is not immune to strikes!

For Aussies, wondering which credit/debit card/s to take on Camino

I used a NAB Traveller Card (similar to a cash passport). When making withdrawals a choice was given to withdraw with or without conversion. I chose 'with conversion' once and had the same experience - euros treated as A$. Needless to say I quickly learnt that lesson! Otherwise it worked well.

What is the one albergue you would avoid?

Thankfully they didn't cook for us! I guess it didn't help that this was only my second night staying in a hostel ever and the experience in Roncesvalles was so much more pleasant.

The mop to clean up was useless. It felt kind of dirty... I would also recommend skipping Larrasoana - just a few kms further on...

    Class of 2014

It's great to see so much happy anticipation, and I've definitely got it too! Should be starting from St Jean on 8th May - all travel bookings made, etc. My only problem is shoes - I still haven't found a pair that fit well but will keep trying. The perfect pair must be out there somewhere...

    Class of 2014

Hi all, I'm starting my first Camino in early May 2014. Walking from SJPdP to Burgos with my son and from there onwards by myself or should I say with all the pilgrims on the road!
