Comment by 'kusitb' in media 'O'Cebreiro chapel'

Does anyone have a photo of the prayers on the kneelers? I read the english version, and I thought I took a photo, but I could not find it.

    Camino Facil or Jacotrans

OK, then there's definitely a disconnect between the mimochila folks running this service and the Correos offices. Mimochila clearly told me over the phone that they can not process credit card payments over the phone. When I asked if I can use credit card at the Correos office, they said "cash...

    Camino Facil or Jacotrans

Oh, this is new. I'm glad it worked out for you. I actually asked Correos about doing this, but they said (paraphrase) "it is not advised as sometimes, other companies just take the luggage even if it is not for them". Without actually saying it, I got the impression that the Correos lady was...

    Hydration bladder ?

I used the smartube. - Carried it on the side-pocket. On most days, I started with 80% full using a 1-liter Nalgene bottle (to save on weight). Exception is when I know there are few water fountains on that day's route, then I fill it 100%. - I kept a 500-ml bottle as spare on the other...

    Camino Facil or Jacotrans

One other note re: Correos. It seemed to me that their "official rate" is 4 euros each day (max of 20-kg, 30-km). However, I got the impression from the lady I spoke with that the flat rate they did with us was a way for them to promote the service. It seems like not a lot of people are using...

    Camino Facil or Jacotrans

BTW, if you want to use Correos, send email to: mimochila@correos.com and ask for a quote. They will ask you the start and end location of your entire camino and they will give you a quote based on that. You can then pay that amount via wire transfer, or pay with cash at a Correos office.

    Camino Facil or Jacotrans

My wife and I just came back from Camino Frances. My wife had knee problems and the doctor advised us to lighten our packs, so we ended up using transport services. We used both Jacotrans and Correos. First we used Jacotrans and they were great. They were charging us 6 euros/day as long as it...

Shipping St. Jean Pied to Santiago

Here's the relevant Correos link. http://www.elcaminoconcorreos.com/en/envio-maletas.php - Suitcases or parcels up to 15 kg: 17.97 Euros (including VAT) - Suitcases or parcels up to 25 kg: 26.60 Euros (including VAT) I was able to ship from Roncesvalles to Ivar. The hotel receptionist...

Shipping St. Jean Pied to Santiago

I was able to use Correos from Roncesvalles. < 28 euros for a 50-lb suitcase.

Shipping St. Jean Pied to Santiago

I'm not sure if Express Burricot will ship to Ivar directly. When I inquired, they said they will ship to a hotel in Santiago. Another option is to use Express Burricot to ship to Roncesvalles (8 euros), then use Correos to ship to Ivar (< 28 euros). This was for a suitcase weighing approx 50-lbs.

What do I need to book ahead..?

I just got back from the Camino Frances, and I just want to make a note on this topic for future pilgrims. If money is not too much of an issue, I suggest looking for other ways to get from CDG to Paris Montparnasse, especially if you have heavy luggage other than your backpack. The reasons...

to send a package from SJPP and bring it in Santiago de Comp

Hi @mspath, Sorry for delayed reply. We are now in Logroño. Anyway, I was able to send the luggage from Roncesvalles to Ivar. The cost was 26,60 €. The lady at the hotel called Correos to confirm the cost, and Ivar has also confirmed that he already received the luggage... so all is good. We...

to send a package from SJPP and bring it in Santiago de Comp

Thanks @Mysticl - that is great to hear. It is quite a relief! :) A couple of questions: - When you say "main building", which building is this - is there a name of the building? When you sent it through Jacotrans, did you just specify "Roncesvalles" (it looks like there's just a few buildings...

to send a package from SJPP and bring it in Santiago de Comp

It seems like this service could be close to "Tiendas Amigas". http://www.elcaminoconcorreos.com/en/tiendas-amigas.php But Tiendas Amigas refer only to parcels. I want to send a suitcase to Ivar. I'll do more research once I have checked in at the airport.

to send a package from SJPP and bring it in Santiago de Comp

Thank you so much for the help, @mspath . We are about to leave for the airport!! I don't know if I'm nervous or excited! Oh well, I've done the best I can with the prep, all I can do now is to go... Thanks again so much. You and this forum has been very helpful.

to send a package from SJPP and bring it in Santiago de Comp

Hi @mspath - If I get my luggage to Roncesvalles monastery (from SJPP via Express Burricot), the Roncesvalles hospitalero will be able to help me get the luggage to Ivar's storage, even if there is no post office in Roncesvalles? Meaning, the post office will pick it up from Roncesvalles...

    Bedbug Question! Settle our debate!

Thanks, @C clearly - "repelente de insectos" (Google translate) - is that a decent translation for insect repellant?

    Bedbug Question! Settle our debate!

Hi @C clearly, I've been thinking of DEET myself. When we go hiking here in Toronto during bug season, I usually wear long sleeved shirts and on occasion, bug shirt and headgear. I use the headgear only when there are so many bugs. The rest of the time, I use DEET sparingly, and I find it to be...

Indulgences in Holy Year of Mercy--which door(s)?

Hi, Thank you very much for all the information above. Are the Holy Doors clearly marked? I ask because here in Toronto, they are not; we just kind of know because we are locals and they are sometimes decorated a bit.
