Hi, I'm currently on the Camino Frances. I walked a couple of 5 km walks through the week, with a 20km walk on the weekends for about 3 months as my training. I am now almost 2 weeks into the walk (280 kms) and have only had 1 rest day! Going well. So it all depends on the person and the weight...
My wife and I are currently on the Camino France's, staying in Atapuerca tonight, and Burgos tomorrow night. Our goal is The End of the World by late June. Feel free to approach us. Just look for the 2 Aussie flags and Camino arrows on our packs.
Sonia,
I'm 8 days into the Camino from SJPdP and have already posted my thermals back to Australia. First 3 days were over 30 degrees celcius, and so far have had only 1 day below 20 degrees. Still bring rain gear And a jumper, but prepare for warmer days. Yesterday was 31 in Logrono.
Cheers
Chris
Hi Sofie,
I'm on the Camino France's right now (8 days in) and the weather has been incredible. First 3 days were above 30 degrees celcius. Only 1 day below 20 degrees so far. With that in mind, I started this walk wearing Salomon boots. They did not breathe at all, and I found myself with...
Hi everyone,
I am currently on the Camino, staying in Navarette tonight with my wife. If you are a female travelling alone and feel threatened, please feel free to approach and travel with us. We are more than willing to share our journey with you. Ps we aim to be at Santiago by June 22 or...
I hope it's not busy and loud! My wife and I are going the same time from Australia - hopefully starting from SJPDP on May 10th. If we walk slowly, we may just meet you. :)
Hey TomUK,
After doing plenty of research on here and google, I have found what appears to me to be the things that will get me from SJPDP to SDC. I've bought 2 Northface quick dry pants and 1 windproof jacket (Pants zip off at knees to become shorts), Salomon 'Speedcross 3 Ortholite' shoes, 3...
Hey Tom,
Lucky you're in the UK - you have access to cheap shoes. I'm in Australia and bought my Camino shoes (Salomon's) from Activinstinct.com for half the price they are here. It's my third pair of Salomon's - highly recommended. Socks wise, everyone recommends Bridgedales, and I have to say...
The reason I asked about underwear, Dutch, is because I don't want to have to carry around wet underwear the next day because it didn't dry. I wanted information as to which brands are preferred, that dry overnight, so I don't have to pack extra clothes to cater for those which haven't dried in...
All great advice. Appreciate the comments. Some very important factors to consider. So far I think the Exofficio sound like the better option. Backcountry.com seem to have some good specials on too at the moment. I've just been on their website, chatting to an agent, who has reduced the shipping...
I've done a bit more research on the Exofficio brand. They are 94% Nylon and 6% Lycra???? Not wool??? Are you sure the Nylon doesn't make you sweat heaps???
Hi everyone. Just doing a bit of research on the best underwear to take for the Frances Camino. Has anyone tried the wool ones? How were they? Comfortable? Quick drying??? Any suggestions on brands are appreciated, and where you got them from. Cheers.
Hi J.Bann. Hope you are okay. Would like to hear more about the circumstances surrounding this terrible ordeal for you. Please be kind and share your story so that we future walkers can be more aware of the dangers involved.
Hey Steve,
We have decided to start around May 10, in order to give us a better chance at doing the Napoleon way. May see you if you are walking slowly :-)
