My dad has torn ligaments in his knee, so we've had to cancel our camino trip in September :( I'm still going to Europe but not until October. We haven't given up, we hope to go in 2 years when my eldest daughter finishes high school. Buen Camino everyone.
Looks like my camino is on hold. My dad has a very dodgy knee, can't walk on it. He sees a specialist in 2 weeks, but it's looking very unlikely. And I'd just bought some nice walking socks too!
My dad and I arrive in SJPDP on August 31 (from WA) and walk to Orisson on the 1st. My dad is 70 and this is his celebration for his birthday :) Not long now. Our poles reduce in size, so they will go in one pack which we'll check in for the internal flights.
We've talked about it for a long time. my dad just turned 70, so we decided it was time to go. My pack is orange with an Irish and Australian flag also. :)
I'm so glad I found this thread. My mum, who doesn't/won't walk has decided she wants to come with my Dad and myself when we walk in Sept 2015. Hopefully it will all go to plan without any major disasters - she has no sense of direction.
Yes I'm dreading the flight too. we arrive in SJPDP on 31 August and walk to Orisson on the 1st. We got our clam shells, Camino patch and passports last week. Very excited. I have an orange back pack with Aussie and Irish flag, keep an eye out for us.
Flights booked. We leave Perth August 30 and arrive in Paris 31. May fly straight to Biarattz the same day as plenty of time between flights. Plan to start on the 2nd.
My dad and I start from SJPDP in September. We first heard about it many years ago, but I was going off backpacking so we put it on hold. My dad is 70 this year and has decided now is the time. We're in training and are up to walking 20 kms per day (at weekends)with no problems. During the week...
Yeah we know, we'll just take each as it comes and see what happens. We're in training no blisters so far. After Spain we head home to Ireland to visit the family and then spend time in London and Paris before we fly back home to Australa in Nov.
My dad James and myself (and maybe my mam) will arrive in St Jean de Pied de Port from Western Australia on August 31. Plan to start our walk on September 2nd. We have until October 4th when we have to be in Barcelona to meet my husband and children. We've been talking about this for a very...
