Ah thank you SYates. I hope she does, as I left so quickly. I am thank you. I think I was just overcome with the heat. I often faint so I know the signs but it can give those around a fright too. Thank you though.
This may not be appropriate for a new thread as such. However I just wanted to apologise to a lady I met in Santiago yesterday. She was a lovely lady from Hoboken, USA but I didn't get her name as we chatted in the queue for our compostelas. We talked about having completed our Portuguese routes...
Apologies Kasia for not replying sooner.
I've just posted a response to Elaines feedback. But to summise, I loved it. The sights, the smells, the challenges & broadening my own outlook on things. I was a total rookie doing this walk and learned so much! Do it if you feel a longing... for me...
Congrats Elaine, I'm glad you enjoyed your walk. I arrived myself in Santiago yesterday and am still here soaking it all up.
I completely agree with all you said about the walk. I loved staying by the coast and truly loved it all. I agree, I too found the route from Baiona to Vigo tough -...
Thank you for your posts & great advice on finding Mario. I managed to get the ferry in the end and met wonderful people in the process! However this is great info to have, for anyone else 'in the same boat'! (Sorry, bad joke!)
I agree along the coast path there is no need for waymarkers. However, while getting my stamp in the tourist office in Vianna they told me that I would have to come off the coast route at a certain point. I later realised this was not necessary. It was at that stage it became confusing.
Thanks Horley, that's really great! I decided it was a nice day to chill out here and I plan on getting the ferry tomorrow. However, I'm delighted to have a back up plan. Thanks for his number too. That's great!
Maybe this was in reference to taking the coastal route? I am on the coastal route at the moment. I did find one stage between Vianna de Castelo and Vila Praia de Ancora (by the sea) to have less markings than other stages. However, despite having no sense of direction I found my way! So if I...
Olá, just wondering if there is anyone planning on travelling from Caminha to A Guarda on Monday 19th September?
I was told there are no ferries on a Monday! I know someone on another thread mentioned there may be a fisherman who would be willing to go across. However, I am travelling solo so...
Hiya Matt,
For what it's worth I got the metro from Trindade station to Matasinos (Mercado stop) and began mine there. Some other threads on this forum had alot of info on the coastal route from Porto which I found really handy, too. Sorry I don't have the links to the threads.
Best of luck...
Hello all on the Portuguese paths! I hope everyone is enjoying their camino so far.
I started mine yesterday and in true Irish style, the raincoat had to come out! Beautiful coastline along Porto to Vila do Conde. Although I enjoyed it, I was never so have a shower and fall into bed last night...
Thanks Stefystar, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it and that you got there safely. I'm just starting mine and in true Irish style, it's raining here in Porto! Buen camino to everyone!
Best of luck Laineylainey, hope you are all set and have a safe flight ove. I will be a week behind you so if our paths don't cross, I hope you have a ball and enjoy it!
Take care and Bom camino!
Hiya Doogman, I am doing the camino coastal route shortly but still undecided as to when to go inland. May I ask, how long did it take you to get to Vigo, walking by the coast? Thanks in advance! :)
Hi Ger, will keep my eye out for you both so! :)
I know what you mean about choosing a place to stay. I booked into a budget hotel with the hope of getting a good nights sleep before commencing my camino. To be honest, I am a little bit scarred from some 'memorable' stays in hostels while...
Hi Stefystar,
I'm starting a week behind you from Porto. However I'm sure there will be plenty of folk passing through Tui with you!
Enjoy and buen camino!
Hi Pablo Mac,
Wow, that's impressive covering that distance within a week. Are you doing the central Portuguese route or the coastal one?
There are a few starting out from Porto on the 8th. I'm starting on the 15th myself.
Best of luck & enjoy!
Eims
