Thank you all for your info. I am almost 73 & we have the Francais & the Via de la Plata ticked off so far. I will really have to research this one in the next few months & look at it post Coronavirus.
Thank you.
Do you happen to have a list of the villages where you stayed? 25/27 klms a days is fine but some of the 40klm days in hills would be too much.
We want to walk the Camino del Norte. However being of senior years & not carrying sleeping bags we will require accommodation like cheap hotels & B&B's & hostel private rooms.
Has anybody done it this way recently ? Is it possible? What were the stage lengths? What are the best months to do...
Thanks for your advice regarding the weather. I am now pretty sure we will start again in mid Sept. I am trying to find more information on Hotels or private accommodation if any of you can help.
In March & April 2016 we walked from Seville to Puebla de Sanabria then rain & snow & flooding put a stop to our plans to continue to Santiago.
We will return to complete the walk to Santiago in late Sept or early October. Can anybody advise on best month for the weather for that part of Spain...
Thank you to you all for your rapid replies. I will have to take some time to read & digest it all & then come up with a plan. I will definitely stay with the forum & give plenty of feedback if we get to do it.. Thanks again.
My wife & I have done 2 Caminos & are now considering the Catalan to Logrono in mid Sept. I am having difficulty in finding maps & distances between villages for accommodation. We like to average about 25klms a day & being seniors we look for cheap hotels or private rooms if available...
Hi Steve, We are on Standby tickets for our flights so although starting on 18th is the plan it cannot be confirmed. So I suggest you start at your own time & we will see you along the way. Cheers Dennis.
Hi Steve. We still hope to start from the cathedral on the morning of the 18th March but seeing that we are on non confirmed air tickets from Australia this could all change so we have to be flexible with everything including accommodation.
Still we hope to see you on the trail.
Cheers
Dennis
Thanks C clearly for our help. I have been onto several websites but will certainly go to the ones suggested & see what we can work out.Hope to leave Seville March 18th. Hope we may see you on the trail.
If anyone has a copy of the daily sections they have walked the VDLP in the past I would appreciate a look at it. Due to time restraints I have agonised over getting to Salamanca in 20 days & Santiago in under 40 days which could give us the chance to push on to Finisterre. The distance between...
Great discussion going here guys. My wife & I plan to start the VDLP March 18 & have 2 concerns. Owing to the reports of robberies on the first couple of days would it be wise to wait for a group to walk with for the for the first 2 days or am I over reacting to some isolated reports? Also we...
2013 we walked the Frances starting April 23 from SJPDP aiming totally for hotels or pensions or other private accommodation. After the first 3 days realised it was getting harder to find so from there we called ahead 2 days from info in the Brierlys book & all was fine. Having booked & giving...
Hi Steve, We now look like starting on 18 March also & hope we cross paths with you some where. Next question is ..Is the water from village fountains along the way ok to drink??? It was fine on the Main Camino so hope it is the same on the VDLP
Hi Guys I just registered on this site.
My wife & I are planning the VDLP in March also to start from Seville around March 19 2016
We did the French Camino in 2013 & really enjoyed it & managed to stay in cheap hotels & pensions & B & B's.
My big question is whether staying in this type of...
