I am serving as a Hospitalara in Bercianos May 1-15. I plan to bus or train from Leon to Sahagun, then walk the next day into Bercianos. I want to see what pilgrims see as they arrive in Bercianos. I am glad to hear that Michael Blankschen had a good experience, I am super excited.
I agree with Martin888. Talk time to ponder your coming Camino while in St. Jean. Get a good night's sleep, visit the pilgrim's office, and experience the lovely town. Then start early for Roncevalles. I booked a room at Orrison and ended up skipping it and going all the way. I was tired but it...

How was your camino in Portugal? I am considering the Coastal route with a friend next summer, 2018. I have already done walked Camino Frances. Are the albergues as plentiful and cheap?

I am here now and yes the design is odd. However, the albergue is clean and the facilities no worse than any other albergue I have stayed in since St. Jean. I got the throw away sheet and a blanket and the grounds are peaceful, full of beautiful flowers. And there is a restaurant here, we're...
I got my first blister today on a training walk with 16 lb. backpack. Glad to be sorting this out now, though I don't now what to do! It is on the bottom of my foot, between the two pads of the ball of my foot! Help!
