Kevin, thanks for this - so opportune to read this morning as we leave (Ottawa, Canada) in one short day! We are flying to Florence for 2 days before taking the train to Assisi and start walking from there (it was a time thing…). I booked 2 nights in Assisi so I really hope we will be able to...
Thanks so much for your reply, Nick. I have Camino friends who went last year with a group, which is where I got the “bug” to go. (My husband just goes along with me 😉). I’ve read your blog, and thought you stopped at Assisi - I’ll have to go back and find more.
I think we’re relatively fit...
Good morning. After having walked, 3 (Frances, VdlP, CP and Fisterra) Camino to Santiago, we thought that this year we should ‘experience’ another Way. So in a few short days we fly off to Italy and will be walking the Via di Francesco from Assisi to Rome (though I wish we had more time so we...
Ladies - great topic! I have a ‘freelax’ (sometimes sold as ‘pstyle’ I believe) and I love, love, love it!
Yes it does take a bit of practice - mostly mentally, but I have used mine for the past 10+ years - through 2 Caminos, Everest Base Camp trip, various other holidays, but also while...
Norté - starting in Irun. Not sure if we will branch off onto the Primitivo or keep going on the Norté... our plans to walk this route May/June 2020 were cancelled due to Covid, so we hope to try again when we can - hopefully in June 2021. Until then stay healthy, everyone!
...well, you could put and use your bar of soap in a little mesh bag (kind of like soap on a rope) and then use your “S” hook 🙃 ...editing here - I see I’m not the only one with this brilliant idea
Thank you all for your input into my musings.... as it ended up, we started our Via de la Plata from Seville April 21, walking via the Camino Sanabres and arrived in Santiago May 23. It was a tough walk (mostly because I struggled with a plantar fasciitis issue most of the way), but so well...
Oh Kate, do go!.... for every reason posted here... and mostly for YOU. Claude and I will be on the trail a little ahead of you (we leave Apr 22 from Seville) and we wish you a Muy Buen Camino!
@grayland...thanks! That is why I (we) chose the VDLP ... the difference, the challenge, the feeling, etc... and look forward to everything it has to offer...
Hi all ... looking forward to reading your next postings, Gerald - and others.... We will be starting our trek from Seville on April 22 - excited! I really don’t want to miss out on any part of what the Via de la Plata has to offer (but praying for the sun to shine). Thank you all...
Thanks Richard (and Olympia).... my bad (or good) planning! I did get a place for the 20th ..... maybe we’ll start walking a day earlier ... the Camino provides. Jean
Hi there... with all the good reviews of Hotel Simon, I tried to book for around the 20/22 April..... at $250 to $375 CAD per night.....a little steep for a start, me thinks.....
