    LIVE from the Camino Help!!

Hi Joodle I feel for you as I developed a left foot problem around Burgos a couple of weeks ago. I foolishly carried on walking and ended up having to see a local doctor in a small town further on which turned out to be expensive and my problem was mis-diagnosed probably due to language issues...

    Walking wounded

Hello again Wokabout I am now back in Perth and have seen a sports Physio who has ruled out plantar fasciitis and has sent me for an X-ray to check for a stress fracture. Still hobbling but in good spirits considering everything :) Hope all well with you and your hiking is going well. Gumnut...

    Getting the train from Bayonne

Hello Just to let you know you can get a local bus from just outside Biarritz airport terminal straight to Bayonne for 1 euro. Also it's worth popping into the railway station at Bayonne when you arrive to make sure the trains are running to schedule as there have been a number of strikes over...

    Electric hot pot

Hi Jenny I brought a small electric coil and a camping mugwith me to boil water for tea - it's been fantastic. Not all Albergues have kitchens or microwaves but they all have power points. I would definitely recommend. Buen Camino

    Walking wounded

Hi Joe There are 3 wilderness campsites (composting toilet, water tank and picnic table) and a number of commercial and other campgrounds. I've also camped in other spots which you are allowed to do if hiking and as long as you're not near an access road. I'd get hold of a copy of the Cape to...

    Walking wounded

C2C is fantastic - I was lucky enough to have the time to do it 4 times over the last year (twice camping). The scenery is stunning :)

    Walking wounded

That is indeed a really sad story :( How on earth did you actually finish the whole Camino!!! I had to grimace at the top bunk reference. I got a top bunk in Hontanos and physically couldn't even manage the first rung due to intense pain!! Luckily the hospitaleros had a bottom bunk in the church...

    Walking wounded

Feel free - there are some great walks - and of course the Cape-to-Cape Track and the Bibbulmun.

    Walking wounded

Yes I stole the Leunig cartoon from a fellow hiker!! The pain in my foot is not really typical of plantar fasciitis and I suspect I may have s stress fracture!! I've broken a metatarsal before - two weeks before a trip to India (hobbled through it and it was amazing - pity there're no rickshaws...

    shortage of beds?

Even many of the smaller places are full at the moment and even if you book ahead they will give your bed away if you don't show up by 3pm. An American lady I walked with had an expensive experience of this recently. No beds in Zubiri. Walked on. No beds in Lorrosoana (sorry about the spelling)...

    Walking wounded

Great advice - I walked without any blisters or other problems from St Jean to Burgos but then developed excruciating left foot pain on day 15 after about 340km. After resting and icing etc it's not getting any better so I am abandoning my Camino and heading back to Australia. If I could start...

About 100 euros for a taxi and there's also a twice daily bus service if the trains aren't running (at 07:45 and about 18:00. This info was current on 28th April 2016. Things may change!! Buen Camino

Thank you so much kayagee66 for that very timely information!! I printed out a pre-paid e-ticket at Bayonne station today for the 11:10 train tomorrow! If not for your post I would have turned up none the wiser and had to wait for the 18:00 bus!! Not only have you saved me a slightly frustrating...

** Last minute dilemma - electric coil or kindle?

Hello TD Justus Thanks for your response. A couple of people have suggested reading on the phone. Although I love my kindle, mainly because it isn't back-lit and is easier on the eyes, I am probably now going to leave it at home for this trip. Extra weight is really the last thing that's needed...
