    Primitivo Albergue Closing Dates

I did the Primitivo late Sept into October this year and had no difficulty with albergues and accommodation - did some hotels as well.

    Blister product advice

Prevention and cure.. I use Micrpore tape or in Spain it's Lucopore, it's a sticky paper and doesn't allow the skin to move creating the blister - it's always worked for me! If I feel a blister developing I tape it over with micropore which effectively stops it developing!

How to train for downhill walking

Hi - I've just completed the Camino Primitivo - had a real problem with my right knee after the Hospitales route (2 heavy downhills) - I ended up in the next few days till Melide (where I ended this time) coming down sideways ie like a crab on most of the downs. I didn't care how I looked, I...

    Tineo-Melide on 23rd September

I'm starting to walk from Tineo to Melide in just over a week, firstly is the Primitivo well waymarked, I can't find any information about this? Also I wonder what the ground is like at the moment - has there been any rain, is it muddy or is it still dry after the summer? What is the prospect...

    Headlamp or tiny flashlight?

So much advice! Here's what I do, I have a tiny torch safety pinned to the inside of my backpack, very useful any time of day or night. Most albergues aren't completely dark even in October. Carry a small hand held torch in preference to a headlamp which takes up space and also weighs, so for the...

    Reflections on a higgledy-piggledy Camino

Sorry to hear you had the stomach bug - it floored me too. I must have been just a day or two behind you and was struck down in Campiello - I was lucky that my partner wasn't walking and had the car - he took me to Tineo to the Medical Centre there where I got treatment and medication, they...

    On the Primitivo

Hi - I had to abandon my camino on the Primitivo because of the tummy bug ... are you sure it was a virus you had? I definitely had the virus (hospital in Tineo confirmed this and gave me very very good treatment) and about 10 other pilgrims I know had it too, we think we picked it up around...

    Virus on Primitivo

Warning, be very very particular about hygeine, washing hands etc I became ill in Campiello, very sick, very weak, couldn't move from my bed. Got a lift to the medical centre in Tineo after 24hours where they treated me for pain and dehydration. I was lucky, there have been many others with this...

    heatwave on the Camino???

I agree - 13lbs 7oz is pretty heavy - I heard that 10% of your body weight is the most you should carry, unless of course you are a SuperHuman!
