Is there anywhere to stay in Bigorne? I noticed @jungleboy you mentioned a lady who owns the restaurant. I've tried calling the number on google but no reply. I'm not there yet but will be in a few days.
I've sent an email to the cathedral and they gave me the same reply as in the link so I'm sure it'll be fine on Sunday. I'll update this post to confirm.
Edit: picked up the credential today (Sunday) from the lady at the door.
True! That answers my question.
I've just seen this thread which confirms your advice: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/credencial-in-lisbon.78355/
What is this other source? My only day in Lisbon will be a Sunday and the Sé appears to be closed to visitors so not sure where I'll pick up the credencial.
Thanks a lot. I've found some places on a route that deviates slightly from the Gronze route. In the spirit of 'taking the road less travelled', I'll try my luck and see how it goes!
I start (probably from Santarém) on the 22nd, so I'll try to keep a little journal on here.
The stages that Gronze shows don't make a lot of sense as some days end in towns with literally no accommodation. I've plotted a couple of alternatives, notably: Coimbra - Penacova - Santa Comba Dão - Garrucha - Viseu.
If anyone has any experience with this route, I'd love to know where you...
I think you and I have a very similar lingering fear. We have to remember that something is drawing us to those more solitary routes. The chances are, if we opt out due to fear, we'll be missing out on some important lessons. I think it's best to follow the internal compass.
That definitely was a big part of the CF; meeting the same people and getting to know them. I'd even say it was the single most memorable aspect of that camino. I'm working to change my mindset though. I know I'll be ok. I think caminos come at the right time to those of us who walk them and...
I see, thank you!
Did you call several days in advance or on the day? Do you think a mix of English and Spanish with a couple of rehearsed Portuguese phrases will be sufficient?
I'll be walking the CPI (Lisbon - Coimbra - Viseu - Verin - SdC) starting later this month.
For those who have walked this route, and in particular, the stretch between Coimbra and Viseu, what are the options for accommodation? Gronze shows places to stay along the entire route so I'm not...
Thanks a lot Tom. When you say you walked from Lisbon, do you mean on the Central route through Porto or the Interior route through Veseu?
I'm really trying to prepare an open mindset now, free of expecations, with the help of messages like yours. It won't be a different version of the Camino...
Thank you all for the replies!
Ok, that confirms it! I'm still super excited, I'll just have to prepare a more introspective mindset.
This month. I should start around May 22nd.
Thanks, I've had a good read through that and will post some more specific questions there.

Hi all, long time lurker of seven years here!
Since completing the CF in 2016, I've been contemplating my next camino. I knew I fancied something a little less populated while still being both beautiful and relatively well catered for. After a lot of research, I've decided to start the CPI -...
