I used baggage transport in 2017. When I got to the Albergue I would ask them for the tag for the baggage transport service that they used and filled out and put in money. You then place bag prior to time they pick up (in the correct location in Albergue) and your bag will then be at your next...
ASICS trail tennis shoes! I walked the Camino Frances in 2017 and wore hiking boots. I realized after walking the entire Camino that unless you are very unlucky and get an unusual amount of rain on your Camino that you do not need boots.
Next time, if there is a next time, I will wear ASIC trail...
Darn Tough socks (Darn Tough is the brand name). I never get blisters wearing these socks but do with other top brand socks. I carried thee pair of darn tough socks when I walked Camino in 2017.
If the goal is to find love on the Camino then by all means shave. Very few shaved when I walked the Camino in 2017. It seamed to me many wanted to see how much beard they could grow when in an atmosphere of no work/office requirements and social expectations.
I know Curt and Katie H. and walked the Camino Frances starting in Pamplona in 2017. Started September 22, 2017 and got to Santiago de Compostela November 03, 2017. (Temple, Texas)
I started in Pamplona Sept 22,2017 and it took me 43 days to get to Santiago de Compostela. I am old and slow, and struggled very very much the first ten days and then it just changed and got a little easier for me. One of the best things I have done in my life. Have A Blast!!!!!!!
Bar of soap to clean hair, body and clothes. Toothpaste and toothbrush are needed. Very few places had toilet paper so I took a few individual packed Dude wipes and was great full that I had many times. A small comb, if you have hair. I am bald so did not need other than for my beard.
I am not...
I took rain pants and sweated so much in them that I only wore them one day. It was better to just get wet from rain than get just at wet from sweat.
Now when hiking I wear a light “Frog Togg” poncho and use some 550 para cord to tie around my waist to keep it in place when there is wind.
Don’t get one that is to big like I did. I got one that would take up both outlets when plugged in. It had multiple ports but it was not a good choice for me.
I am a big guy so the hills killed me. I agree with if you are not in great shape then walking up some hills if you have them where you live.
If you out of shape, as I was, then the first two weeks are very hard so take it easy. After the first 10-14 days you, or I did, start to feel a lot...
Howdy,
You are about to have a life changing experience. Stick with it as the first few days, no matter where you start, are hard but then your body gets acclimated. Go to the masses, even if you are not catholic/religious, you will be moved by the experience. Have a blast!
We are in a different world from when I walked in 2017. I started in Pamplona on September 22, 2017 and Santiago de Compostela November 03, 2017. I think that is @43 days. I had no issues getting a room each day, but since I use a CPAP and needed electricity and lower bunk I would book ahead...
