Where to stay in Lajo or Les Faux?

I stayed at gîte les Bouleaux Nains in Lajo, it was the gîte with the most people when I was there with almost 20 around the big table at night, very lively - other places in the area were booked out. There was no wifi there (when I needed it) in late April. It's quite off the trail.

    Reserve early to avoid disappointment!

This tendency towards booking everything in advance is making it more difficult to walk a spontaneous Camino. I suppose the majority of those booking in advance are reserving private rooms, but if the shared dormitory accommodation becomes full, then those not wanting to be stuck to rigid...

My notes on railway bridge shortcuts Conduché – Cahors on the Célé variant

I want to add my notes towards taking the three railway bridge shortcuts on the section Conduché – Cahors. Bridge 1: After coming down from the descent into Conduché I took the GR651 along the D662 into Bouziés. This was surely the most dangerous section I encountered. One of my fellow French...

2 Months until Le Puy en Velay!

Yes, very exciting. Another three months for me, waiting is hard, very hard.

Stages from Lyon to Le Puy?

I could suggest finishing a stage at La Neylière, the Marist guest house http://www.neyliere.fr/en/homepage-ang/

Le Puy April 2023 here I come!

I'm planning Le Puy to Figeac in 9 days, then Figeac to Cahors via Célé in 5 days (in April-May).

    Walking from Saint-Cirq-Lapopie to Cahors

This is excellent, very helpful. I plan to make St. Cirq to Cahors in a full day next year and this is good information.

    My Camino plan from Mont-Saint-Michel

Hi Mary, Sounds great! So what was your opinion of Les Landes - essential or tedious? How much of the way did you skip walking and why (not being critical here!). I'll manage to do it one day...

Comment by 'Matthew Fitzhenry' in media 'Galicia Xunta 100.743 KM'

@Saint Mike II The meaning of the comma and full stop markings are reversed in the "British" world. More than 100 thousand km to go!

If you're not from continental Europe, you've got a helluva way further to walk!

Pilgrim's Halt on Voie de Tours

Sounds good. I would make a point of it to stay there.

    Pilgrimage intention

So basically, as long as you travel from some point further than 100km to SdC, for the compostella, the starting point is not so important. Therefore anything further to this is for my own benefit. As I feel my intended travels will be part of an overarching 'pilgrimage', I was looking to have a...

    Pilgrimage intention

OK sorry, I will explain more clearly hopefully. I have the ultimate intention to walk from Mont-Saint-Michel to Santiago dC. I have a credential with me ready to go. I wish to visit other sites to make a pilgrimage (including sites of religious significance, such as Lisieux and not exactly...

    Pilgrimage intention

I'd like to get opinions on a thought I had. What if you have the intention to begin your Camino, but in the end could not begin physically walking when you wished? If you were still to actively seek out sites of pilgrimage without setting out by walking from place A to Santiago at that specific...

    My Camino plan from Mont-Saint-Michel

How common is getting the credential stamped in France? I would imagine the gîtes du pèlerin would have stamps for it, but what about from other accommodations / churches / where-ever else? Also how often do you need to get them?

    My Camino plan from Mont-Saint-Michel

Thanks for your comments about Les Landes. I guess it may just come down to how I feel when I reach Bordeaux.
