Re: the aforementioned rubber disc. I went to my local discount store and got a silicon mat - it was about $2. I cut three discs -14 cm/5.5 in. It weighs 25g/.9 oz. It works great.- Alan Baker

Travel from Canada
My wife and I are making a similar plan (but from Toronto). Our plan is Air Canada Toronto to Paris (CDG) on a multi-city ticket. From CDG, the TGV to Bordeaux, transfer there to the TGV to Bayonne, then local train from Bayonne to St-Jean-Pied-de-Port. That's going to make for long day, so we...- Alan Baker

Thanks everyone for your help. I will probably wait until autumn and see if the double diamond down throws are available locally, and if not I'll stay with the MEC hybrid sleeping bag and probably supplement it with a liner.- Alan Baker
