What is the one Albergue that you would say not to miss

I would name two: 1) Gaucelmo in Rabanal. It´s run by the english Confraternity of Saint James, and they are nice people. I couldn´t get a bed there last summer, but they guided me to another albergue in town and then invited me to five o´clock tea back at Gaucelmo. Very kind of them! 2) Ave...

I´m interested in this question as well, since I´m going on saturday the 26th of june from Saint Jean. Sleep mat or no sleep mat? All the reports on the overwhelming number of pilgrims makes you wonder... What is your last minute recommendation for me? Yours Tangaa

    Simple life.

One of the major things I learned was gratitude. It really struck me how little it takes to make one feel grateful. - A friendly word on the way - A hospitalero offering you a glass of water when you arrive at the albergue. No big gesture - but a world of difference anyway.

    the kitchen sink

I have a Sea to Summit kitchen sink - and in my opinion it´s great. When folded it takes up almost no space, and it´s pretty useful to wash clothes and soak tired feet. I´ll definitely bring mine, when I go in july. Tangaa

    Jeans or Sweatpants?

My suggestion: Quick dry zip-off pants with a lot of pockets. Buon Camino!

    Walking with one's Spouse

I walked from Astorga with my girlfriend and two other friends three years ago. In Sarria she couldn´t walk anymore because of pain in her knee. She and one of our friends took the bus to Santiago and waited there. We had talked about such a situation before we went to Spain, and I´m glad we...

Bus from Madrid Barajas to Ponferrada

Actually I missed the bus because our plane was late and the busstop was several kilometres from the terminal, so I had to take the subway to Estation Sur - the only place with an ALSA ticket office... I got a bus in the evening and reached Ponferrada at 01:00 in the night - tough when you are...

    Sunday in Santiago

I´m planning on arriving in Santiago on a saturday in June an then spending the whole sunday there before returning to Copenhagen on monday. Now I´m wondering if anything is open on sundays (I can´t remember from last time I was there)? Are all museums and shops closed on sundays?

Bus from Madrid Barajas to Ponferrada

Hola Looking forward to my second walk on the camino in june 2009. Anybody who have tried the ALSA-bus that departs from Terminal 4 at Barajas Airport, Madrid and goes to Ponferrada? Is it hard to find the busstop by the terminal? Would hate to miss the bus! Yours Anders, Denmark
