    Central vs Coastal

Just back from completing this Camino. Started in Porto, walked along Douro, then coast to V de Conde, then transferred to central route. Worked for us, best of both worlds, and lots of Bom Caminhos in Portugal. So,…do whatever you feel led to do!

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Flights to France from the UK

Or fly to Barcelona, bus or train to Pamplona. If ok by then in France, go to St JJPdP. If not, start Camino in Spain (Roncevalles or Pamplona).😉

    Disparaging "The Way"

That film provided me with the inspiration to walk the Camino in the first place. Change of career, midlife ‘crisis’, children leaving home. We have just returned from completing the Camino Frances, spread over 3 years and three trips. Just loved the people we met on each of those journeys. And...

Who is the oldest pilgrim you have met on the Camino

We met the most delightful australien lady on the Camino last October. "Only" 75 but recovering from a stroke which I thought was most impressive. Walked with a large stick, at her own pace, and even made time to have her hair done. Standards need to be maintained!

    Santiago airport to Astorga advice

I'm completing a further 2weeks on Camino Francis in September. I'm flying into Santiago (arriving 9am local) and would be grateful for advice on how best to get from the airport to Astorga by public transport.

    Yes another blister question

Can't vouch for the needle and thread method, but can highly recommend stamping (accidentally) on blistered foot, thereby causing one's wife to squeal with pain before realising that it was just what was needed to start the healing process. Both foot and marriage healed over the next couple of days!

    Splitting the First Day

If you are in good shape, start walking by 0800 and you will be in Roncesvalles between 1530 and 1700. It is one of the hardest days, but there is also a real sense of achievement too! Just stop at Orisson for a really good break for early, uncompromising lunch in my opinion. And take plenty of...
