yes, I am sure I will end up at Valcarlos also.
which albergue did you book?
I was going to use the municipal albergue but was not aware they took bookings.
PS - have you been in touch with Orisson? They have told me they don't know whether they will be open on 1 April, it depends on the weather. They suggested I call them the day before and they will judge from then whether they will open.
Hi Kim
A few of us are starting 1 April and staying in SJPDP on 31 March.
I plan on staying in Orisson on the first night also - weather depending!
See you soon, no doubt!
Janine
Oh I remember now ... 19th. We may well miss each other.
Yeah, the waiting is torturous. Just hope I don't start walking and wish I was back at home with a flat white on the couch!!!! Ahem. I'm sure I won't!
Good luck with yours too!
Greetings fellow Wellingtonian! - I was looking at the Sea to Summit also. But when did you walk? I am starting 1 April. Do you think it will be adequate for then?
Hi Rachel
When do you start again? I think it is just after me ... I start on 1 April. Trying to walk as much as possible in the meantime, but yes, if I could, I'd be doing it now!
Hi Jo
I will use the Express Bouricot service to get to SJPP also. And will book at Beilari for my stay in SJPP too, once they open for reservations. That will be the night of 31 March. I emailed Orisson to reserve for the night of 1 April but they replied they don't take reservations at the...
Oh we have the same dates! Bingo. Sounds great.
And yes, I've read about both Express Bourricot and Beilari on this forum and intended to dig them out ... but now you've done it for me! Many thanks!
JKF ... I'm not gun-shy :)
Hi Jo
Just saw your message now ...
I'm flying into Biarritz on Thursday 30 March, get in quite late, so will stay overnight there. Then take a train or something to SJPP (haven't quite worked it out yet!) on Friday 31 March and stay there the night and start walking Saturday. I haven't booked...
Hi Jo - lovely to hear from you. You are an active wahine, with a half marathon and the Camino in your sights!!! Good for you. I booked my flights yesterday! Arrrghhhh! So I will arrive in SJPP on 31 March and start walking 1 April. I think I will break the first day to ease myself in and either...
Hi Keith
Thanks for the tip, I hadn't actually thought about that. I'll certainly bear it in mind.
I did a couple of day hikes in Madeira over Xmas and didn't seem to feel it but I need to compare the heights!!
Best
Janine
Hi Jo
I'm from ChCh but haven't lived there for many years. Now currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark, so an easy enough trip for me to make it to St Jean! An advantage of living in Eur!
So when do you plan to start in April? I'm thinking 1 April but haven't booked my flights yet. Just about...
