    Who's counting…

We were going to walk in 2022, we know how that went! Now that the kids are at an important time in their education we have decided to wait until they finish high school. I have been counting down about a year now. The count down ticker is going in the right direction and I do a happy dance...

I arrived in Santiago and didn't see a single pilgrim.

Thanks to those who have posted comments on UK/Schengen list David, my source for this was a map I found on the web and a list of countries involved. I did this research around the time of Brexit (or just after). The map and info clearly stated that post Brexit, uk would still be a part of...

I arrived in Santiago and didn't see a single pilgrim.

@sunflowerfunk I cant tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Your numbers are about what I was expecting - 15 for Gebennensis, a rest day in LePuy, say 33 for Le Puy and 35 for Frances - thats 83 days plus 6 rest days. We will leave for Madrid the next day to fly home...

I arrived in Santiago and didn't see a single pilgrim.

thanks @Peterexpatkiwi - I believe that it is near impossible to get anything other than 90 days which I have pretty much accepted but you are right - it is worth a phone call. We are planning to start in 2027, so plenty of time to plan!!!!

I arrived in Santiago and didn't see a single pilgrim.

@Mr_Ross_Duncan, we are planning to walk from Geneva to Santiago and would love to hear about your experience - did you write a blog by any chance or have you posted about it on the forum? Would love to hear all about it!! Are you currently living in the EU? As Australians we will need to be...

Using the cable car on Via Gebennensis (Geneva)

We are planning on starting our walk in Geneva (a couple of years away). Saw a you tube clip of a pilgrim using the Saleve cable car on day 1. This appeals on a number of levels and something I would like to find out more about. Has anyone used it on day 1? When you get off the cable car at...

    Valcarlos to Roncesvalles in snow!

Sorry, My bad - we started of mid March. Started out a beautiful sunny day. Snow just started falling towards the end of the second stage. You have some excellent advice above - you just cant predict the weather or snow. We had a lot of rain and mud that Camino and the river between...

    Valcarlos to Roncesvalles in snow!

We walked via Valcarlos a few years ago, in April. We walked the path for the first 2 sections when it started snowing. We walked the road the rest of the way. If my memory serves my correctly, the narrow verges were covered in snow so you will be walking on the road. There was not a lot of...

Le Puy to Santiago - what time of year

Thanks everyone for the replies. Funnily enough, I was not thinking about the actual weather conditions when I asked the question! I know we cant plan for these things and certainly not a couple of years in advance. I was thinking more about the views in Spring compared to Autumn (yes I know...

Le Puy to Santiago - what time of year

If you walked from Le Puy to Santiago, what time of year did you walk and what were the pros and cons? We will take the full 90 days (less getting to and from the airport). We want to avoid the heat in July and dont mind winter walking. We are planning to walk in a couple of years time and...

Poles & Backpack - to check or not to check...

Could you post them to SJPdP? I am thinking of doing this for our next camino - have not looked into the cost. We previously checked our backpacks and poles, next time we want to carry our bags with us but do not want to get new poles. Sounds like your poles were a very special gift.
