Here is their Facebook page. It was a very nice alburgue, but a bit far from the cathedral if you're wanting to start from there.

I sympathize. I am one week out and Norwegian changed my flight time to 6 hours later than the original. This makes me miss my connecting flight in London. So I've spent the last few days working to get a new flight into Porto which will have me arriving much later than planned.
I was planning on walking all the way to Vila do Conde, but I figure I'll make the final decision once I'm there. I plan to go coastal to Vila do Conde and turn inland toward barcelos after that.
I'm staying at the alburgue de peregrinos in Porto, so hopefully we'll catch each other!
It's not on the actual path, but I'll be walking the central route in May and plan on taking a detour for a day from Ponte de Lima to the Serra de Arga mountain. At the peak is a church that overlooks the entire valley. Weather permitting, I hope to summit it and give thanks to God in that church.
Don't know if anyone has seen this on Netflix, but it's a beautiful documentary of some travelers on the Norte and their spiritual experience. I highly recommend it! It's called Footprints: The Path of Your Life

Its part of an old caminho. I'm considering taking a day from Ponte de Lima and summitting the Serra de Arga. The Refugio is the closest place to stay if it's open. If not, I may have to look for a cab to Rubiaes after coming down.
Thank you for the help! I have an email into them now. It seems the Refugio is for climbers and hikers to reserve a a group. I'm hoping there might be a way to hold a bed for just myself. Otherwise, I'll have to try to walk an additional 6hrs to Rubiaes after the descent. Not something I'd...
In his guide, Brierley writes of a difficult mountainous Portuguese route known as the Camino do Norte. He doesn't give any indications of it's location or if it's currently way marked in the book, aside from pointing out a few mountain peaks that it crosses.
Does anyone know if this route is...
I've been looking online for information on the churches and monuments along the Portuguese Way but can't find much. Does anyone have anyone information, apart from Brierley's guide on old churches or monuments on this stretch of the Camino?

Thanks for the advice! Found a great website to look at one way tickets and got the flights booked AND saved almost $200!
Now I can panic about the reality that I'm actually doing this lol
Ok, I'm about to buy my plane tickets for the Camino Portuguese in May. Freaking out a little bit. The price has been steadily climbing over the last few weeks and I read that international flights only get higher the closer you get to the time of the flight. Anyone have any experience with...
Personally, as I'll be there in early June next year for religious reasons, I think this disruption will be a blessing. Yes it's an inconvenience, but the Lord has a way of using inconveniences like this to remind us of why we walk. Perhaps by taking away the spectacle at the end, it will...
