hello !
I’m sold on using a trekking umbrella on the Frances this summer for the purpose of sun protection. I’d like to buy one over there and just wonder if anyone has seen them around, are they a pretty common sight these days in sporting goods shops? I was in contact with La Boutique de...
sharing another idea, an undergarment crossbody. It’s light, soft tshirt material. Would have been a helpful thing to have on another trip when I was in large cities. Doubt I’ll use it for day to day Camino but it’s light enough that I plan to bring it along and use for the big travel days.
I just wanted to add that I have tried at least 4 different Knix styles, it's a very different brand to get used to and some styles have been absolute fails. In case you didn't know, you can book a free online fitting with Knix, it's a pretty helpful service.
Hi Camster... following along here! I asked a similar question a while back as this will be my first Camino and also have little choice date-wise but to walk thru Pamplona during the festival. I had some good advice, similar to above - such as waiting to walk through until the streets are...
WestJet is usually really convenient for us (especially to fly out of Abbotsford), however for our dates WJ fares were really high. It was cheaper to fly direct with British Airways if you can believe that, and connect in London. All done now - 5 months and counting!
Thank you all for the advice, there were some really helpful points.
In the end we are going to have that day in Bayonne. We are flying into Bordeaux which is a pretty easy connection for us. After a long day of travel we can have an early night in Bordeaux and head over to Bayonne in the...
Thx for this advice. I hadn’t looked into the festival schedule yet so this is good to know! As early birds we will probably want to adjust that day :)
Yes congratulations indeed! We just did the same and bit the bullet on flights finally (also from yvr, but in July), prices definitely jumped recently.
Hello! Looking for some friendly advice as we move ahead with our flight purchase. Traveling from Vancouver, Canada to Europe to start CF in SJPDP early July.
Debating a flight that bring us to Bayonne (right after Tour de France goes through) where we could have a rest day - or - coming via...
Yes it is nice to see 2023 popping up! Summer 2023 is the plan for my mum and I, a 3 year delay but we'll get there and it's exciting to think about.
I hike and road walk a fair amount and wear trail runners most of the time. As Cathy said above, the outdoor stores are great, have also found...
Out and about this week thanks in part to spring break. First the peaceful dyke path along the protected shores of Boundary Bay in Delta, just south of Vancouver. Then close to home today on some forest trails, always more to explore.
I've been walking a virtual camino since Jan 3rd, most of my distance at the moment comes from walking to and from work. I live in an area full of trails, lakes, rivers but it has been tricky to get a walking/hiking buddy. My go to right now is one of our river dykes not far away. It spans...
Hi Sarah - too funny, don't let the fuzzy black & white pic fool you :)
This will be my first camino and I'm travelling with my mum. We are actually going about 2 weeks later than you. I work in education too, so that's why the July departure. Also planning first stop in Orisson though I...
Hi Sarah! Our plan has us just a few weeks behind you. I'm very much in planning mode (something I enjoy), if you ever feel like comparing notes, drop me a line. Had similar concerns re crowds but I know July from SJPDP not quite as busy as spring/fall. Heat - yes that's something I'm...
Thank you, appreciate your response. Yes I am watching Air T into those French cities, I cringe at their layovers in Toronto/Montreal, but good fares and thanks for pointing out how frequent the trains are. Outbound there are several options with good fares, the return is trickier. At this...
You might google "minimum connection times" for CDG - Air France says minimum 75 minutes, but I'm guessing that's connecting to another Air France flight - you probably need more time if changing terminals/airlines. Which flight is that from Toronto? I'm finding it tricky to find a good...
Thanks so much for all of the feedback everyone! Lots to think about (daydream about); it's very interesting to hear how others have made the journey. I do think Dublin and Porto are worth a closer look (and 2 cities I've never visited, so that is a bonus).
As a "planner" I agree that the...
