Hi. I used bigger patches to repair my Garmont insoles. Worked well for me.

Is anyone doing the Camino without any specific purpose

It's not always black and white. Then you are already thinking to go, just go for it. I am absolutely sure, then already on the way, you will find out, why you are doing this! Buen Camino!

    First timer questions

In the beginning of this July I took the bus from Barcelona to Pamplona operated by Alsa. Bus station is near the Arc de Triomf metro station. Bus is not as fast as train, but I liked what I saw on the road. In the afternoon I took another bus from Pamplona to SJPdP - this was one amazing trip!

Accomodations on the Camino del Norte

What was last year or before, does not matter anymore. So many Municipal albergs are closed this year. And there were so many pilgrims walking this August. Many of them from Spain. If you do not want just rush to the next alberg to stay, better to carry the tent.

    Baggage advice

Last year packing for my first summer camino, I had at home two backpacks - Ferrino Rambler 75 L and Vaude Vizard 18+4 L daypack. 75 L seemed too much. 22 L seemed too small. But new good backpack costs some money. I am a person, who needs comfort. So my packing list was long, long, long. This...

    Finding medical help in leon

Hospital de León - Ginecología, Calle San Antonio, 53, 24008 León, Spain, is the place. It's a huge hospital with very friendly staff. To get there, one needs to take a bus. I don't remember, what number.

Places with communal meals on the Norte .....

Add to this list: Albergue de Peregrinos de Bilbao, Albergue Tu Camino Onton.

    Men's convertable hiking pants

For me worked Karrimor Aspen Zip Off Trousers. Not very expensive, very light, long lasting and zippers are kind of hidden so the hairs above the knee will not get caught in the zipper while in use as shorts. Another pair was Karrimor Run Shorts with Zipped back pocket and Open inner pockets. I...

Feedback on the Norte: Late June - Aug

Last year I started on 04. of July from Irun. It was quite nice weather up to 19. of July. Only little bit rain two or three mornings. Then it started to rain and I had to give up my Norte in Santander due to my health problems. I then walked French way from Burgos up to Santiago de Compostela...

Walking to Santiago de Compostela airport

Exactly! Sorry, I didn't mention, my correction is for the route on the Google Maps after the first roundabout near the airport.

Walking to Santiago de Compostela airport

The route is correct up to first roundabout. But you will go to the Terminal are you? So you will follow the sidewalk up to second roundabout. Right after this roundabout you will cross the road, turn right and follow the signs leading to the Terminal. For me was pleasure to walk to the Airport...

My Packing List for Summer on del Norte (Yay or Nay)

I do regular day hiking trips in the forest back at home. Sometimes some weekly trips as well. So I had some basic idea, what one might need during Camino. I am a person who likes some comfort, so my packing list is quite long. But at the same time I like to hike light. In the beginning of this...

    Norte Here I come !

Hello, Walking Geo. I am planning to to Norte from end of July - first days of September. This is my second try on the Norte. I started my previous Norte 04. July and was in Santander 21. July. Problem was my knee, I twisted and had torn ligaments just 1,5 months before start of my Camino. It...

    Before vs. After

In my opinion, these tips are very good, but in the mountains. Camino has lots of asphalt. Better to use asphalt pads. Less wear and better grip on asphalt. Bought mine in Astorga last July. Link...

    Follow the yellow arrows?

It is official name of this Albergue - I think, it will help, then you do internet search. It is still the same Donativo Albergue. Geo coordinates are for navigating device. Sorry, but for some people they might be helpful. I'll try to attache the map to get general idea, there the Albergue is.

    Follow the yellow arrows?

Albergue de Peregrinos de la Asociacion Jacobea Irun-Bidasoa, moved to new address in 2018, geo: N43.34522° W1.80050°. In the beginning of July was still on the old address.

    Trekking poles

Hiking poles, good or bad? For example, I can’t find my current place and directions using topographic map. But I will never say, these maps are useless. Sometimes I have seen, how small children, who are taking part in orienteering sports, during practising, are reading map to coaches/parents...

    July and August

Last year I did some Norte, Irun - Santander, in July. For me, it wasn't very hot. The highest temperature was maybe 27 Celsius, 80 Fahrenheit. But expect to get some rain. Albergues ware not a problem - mostly Donativo. Nearly every town had Pilgrims Menu. Albergues not in towns offered dinner...

    Norte Here I come !

Albergue de peregrinos Jakobi should do. Now it is in new place: C.Leska 1. The price is Donativo. It is opened from March to October. Have yet not been there. I am planning to be there in the end of July 2019. In the beginning of July 2018 it still was on the old place: C/ Lucas de Berroa, 18...

Starting Camino del Norte in two days. Advice needed

Too late to reply, but I took the night bus from Barcelona to Irun. Costs about 37 euros and travel time is about 7 and half hours. Bus company Vibasa has not the most comfortable buses, but was good to get used to nights in albergues. Bus station in Barcelona is right besides to train station...
