When I first walked Cds I spent 2 nights in Madrid then 1 night in León before setting off on the Camino from León the following day. 2 nights in Madrid was a nice opportunity to see a part of Spain that wasn't going to be on our Camino (we flew back from Porto and had two nights there - again...
Hi @GOB
Don't worry - I've heard and seen as bad as what you describe whilst staying in albergues. You come to expect all sorts - one night, a sleep walking pilgrim took a leak on my rucksack thinking it was the toilet! I saw the funny side as he was ushered out of the room by a fellow pilgrim...
Muxia for the shrine and the rocks; Fisterra for the 'end of the world' would be my two 'take home' experiences of that particular stretch (other than the fact that it rained incessantly for four days!) There was also a really nice & peaceful, albeit short, wooded river walk after about 40kms I...
Love this !
It sounds like an epic day, and this was in indeed an epic maiden post ! Hope you managed to get the ticks out safely. You certainly have a story to tell, which is what the Camino is about sometimes...
Way of St. Columba is one of the eight ways of St. Andrew's, it seems...

All new to me, but on my doorstep (relatively!). Thanks @Annette london
Hope it is open. Enjoy it. I didn't think the wine was too bad tbh! Nice to have a 'glass' for breakfast - will give you a bit of pep over the next couple of kms !
Buen Camino
Hi @JustJack I walked CdF in May 2018. Weather was great. Sunshine and blue skies for pretty much the entirety (until the walk to Fisterra, when the heavens opened for 4 days non stop!).
Probably 25/26 degrees mid afternoon was as hot as it got which was fine after several hours walking. A...
I genuinely didn't realise that there was a 'two stamps per day, after Sarria' rule until reading this thread. Always learning!
I'd be amazed if you weren't given your Compostela for the sake of a couple of stamps, after walking 500 miles. As per previous posts though - don't worry, very easy...
Buen Camino, @Flyguy . Leon to SdC was my first Camino back in 2013. Walked it with my mother ! Enjoy. Early September should be a good time to walk it.
This sounds epic. Its a beautiful part of the world. The peaks are monsters. Will be intrigued to know how they incorporate Azerbaijan given the border issues.
Hi lht646
My first Camino (Frances) was in April. Sun, rain, wind, snow. All the weather. Was great!
Normally not that many pilgrims in April (especially in comparison to May) which is good as little need to worry about booking ahead / turning up at a town to find all the beds have 'gone'...
