Thanks for the replies and the advice. I have no intention of taking the Route Napoleon. The CSJ guide for the Camino Frances advises against taking that route if there's bad weather in the summer, never mind a winter crossing. I fly into Paris on January 7 and plan to spend a few days there. Hope to start from SJPdP on January 11 and follow the Camino Frances.
