Indeed! I’ve had some good conversations in airport terminals with people who’ve had a shell on their pack.
I wore mine with a ridiculous amount of pride and a silly grin from day one in the SJPP office 😀
I see that these shoes have a loyal and enthusiastic following!
I’ve tried really hard with flat shoes (ie small heel to toe drop) and just can’t get them to work. My knees just hurt too much. I ended up having to pack the shoes out with insoles, which means that eventually my heel came loose...
A bit off-topic and shamelessly 'proud Dad' but my daughter's MA Social Anthropology thesis is a fun read...

As the OP let me add to my original post...
it looks like the answer to my question is “no, there isn’t a (simple) way of assisting albergues/cafes in financial distress”. I thank @gmag for their informative post.
And apologies to @Rebekah Scott if I’ve accidentally caused her a financial...

I'm unfamiliar with how albergues are organised eg municipal vs Catholic vs private etc. Would the Catholic church have some central...
I fear that some of the albergues won’t make it. My daughter works in a successful cafe in Edinburgh. It’s uncertain if the cafe will survive the summer. And that’s in a major international city. On the meseta there’s nothing else going on. These people have bills and rents and mortgages. I want...
The corona virus is going to be a financial disaster for all the albergues and cafes that would have housed us and fed us as we walked.
Does anyone have any idea as to how we could help financially? I was thinking of things like ‘booking’ a room or a meal and paying for it. And, obviously, not...
Recently had five visits to the dentist to perform a particularly tricky root canal. The anaesthetic goes in, the chair goes back, my eyes close, my mouth opens, and....
Off I go to my happy place - walking the meseta.
Works every time.
Absolutely this. I went for a nice walk in some warm weather. I came home with something completely different. Something, that after 18 months of trying, I still cannot put into words.
I hear you....!
I did the CF in June 2017. I was reasonably fit, living as I do in the Scottish hills with two large dogs who need long walks. So I went along for some exercise and a nice time.
What I actually got completely, as they say around here, ‘did my head in’. I’m a rationalist hard...
People will tell you where they’ve gone
They’ll tell you where to go
But till you get there yourself you never really know
Where some have found their paradise
Others just come to harm
