Shoes, shoes and more dreaded shoes.....

Sometimes the science, theory and the kit does what it says, but doesn't really help you. For example, on the last walk I used gloves in the mornings. Nice insulated gloves. But putting my already cold hands into them resulted in my hands staying cold, noticeably longer than I wanted.

    want solitude

Also I wonder if Solace is sometimes the word instead of Solitude. Solace meaning finding peace within difficult circumstances Solitude meaning generally avoiding it.

    What about “té con leche”?😀

I use a boiling coil. You can get them from a fereteria, ironmonger or Chinese shop. Bring as much tea as you can. The stuff in Spain is weak and you need about three teabags per cup. Also condensed milk will travel in your backpack.

    want solitude

I finished the VDLP on Good Friday after 5 weeks, and walked all of it alone. On leaving for the airport I saw untold groups tramping into Santiago. Albeit holy week, the Frances is a busy Camino most of the year. I did the Mozarabes last year, Almeria to Merida. After Granada I walked it...

Credentials of Confraternity of St James

In the UK The CFSJ will send you the credentials by post. Each one is numbered by hand. So I expect your name gets logged with the number on the credential. There is also a form to fill out after you have completed the Camino, which you can send back to them.

Have Pilgrim's Passport, but do I need to register at a local pilgrim's office before I can stay in municipal albergues?

The Co Fraternity of St James here in the UK records the number on the credential it sends to you. Then registers your Camino on completion of it. Which you do by posting a form to them.

LIVE from the Camino Conditions on Via de la Plata

After a few troublesome crossings I mostly did the walk by road. Folk were amassing injuries daily.

    Desktop Computer Availability in Albergues

In effect you'd be asking for office space. In a busy albergue, not very practicable. Then having to contend with the gamer who's is on it till 3 am?.......

LIVE from the Camino VDLP update feb 2024

Albergues in Vila del rey (no shop, 2 restaurants open in the day) and Xinzo de Limia (big town with everything )are open and a good stay. Again limited kitchens.

    Sanabres "Glitch"

I walked a fair amount of road throughout the vdlp, avoiding flooding. The way markings are stones, a lot are original Roman milia. Now in Galicia relatively new and more impressive stone. But in general the vdlp has less painted yellow arrows , which on the Mozarabes were somewhat overproduced.

    Sanabres "Glitch"

You can work it out with Google maps.

    Sanabres "Glitch"

There is a bus service between A Gudina and VERIN. Leaving early morning from the railway station. It takes 30-45 minutes.

Food on the via la plata

After Zamora the kitchens are reduced. Usually just a microwave. Little or no utensils. Also the hospitaleros are quick to point this out.

    Sanabres "Glitch"

I was told about Casa Nunez by the hospitalero in A Gudina. (She said that the albergue is closed). They do a bed and meals for the price. However I am on the VERIN route. Either way, unless you can do the long walks, it looks likely that a hotel stop is required.

LIVE from the Camino VDLP update feb 2024

Something I forgot to say. After Zamora Some of the albergues did not have blankets readily available. So a sleeping bag is needed.

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

No we kept to the road. But saw some of it in the final stage.

New Official River Route from Requejo to Padornelo

The problem now is melting snow. Making some of the stream crossings tricky again. All along the n525 there was ample water flow from higher up.
