What do you wish you had worried less about?

I haven’t yet done my Camino and I am continually telling myself not to worry about anything. I figure that anything is solvable. If I have the wrong clothes, I am sure that I can buy anything I need somewhere along the way. I look forward to being responsible for and accountable to only...

    Desktop Computer Availability in Albergues

Voice to text on iPhone works really well. You can always do any edits later on when you have access to a PC.

Bad experience with Orange International Travel phone plans

It is worth mentioning that the world of international communications continues to evolve. It is worthwhile having a look at the international plans offered by your home provider. Many of them are now offering international plans or bundles that are not unreasonable. For example, here in...

    eSIM for France

There are many providers that now provide long expiry roaming eSIMs. I have successfully used Flexiroam for several trips. They regularly (every few weeks) have a 70% off sale on their global eSIMs. You could also look at Airalo.

Selfie stick - to bring or not to bring

I’d just mention that if you have an iPhone and Apple Watch you can set up the phone on a convenient object and trigger the camera from the watch. I presume other combinations of phones and watches can do similar.

    Cash vs Credit or Debit

This needs to be emphasised (it applies to everyone - not just U.S.). If you select your home currency then the currency conversion will be done by the local bank at a disadvantageous exchange rate. By choosing to pay in the local currency then your own bank will do the currency conversion.

chatGPT suggested packing list - just for fun

Yes. It is very interesting that you can make the same request twice and get a different response each time.

chatGPT suggested packing list - just for fun

I then asked chatGPT to write me a short story about an adventure walking the Camino. This is what it came up with. Once upon a time, there was a brave adventurer named Forrest who decided to embark on a journey of a lifetime: walking the Camino de Santiago. The Camino de Santiago, also known...

chatGPT suggested packing list - just for fun

Just for a little fun, I asked chatGPT if it could suggest a packing list for a 30 day Camino walk. This is the response. Certainly! Here's a suggested packing list for a 30-day Camino walk: Backpack: Choose a comfortable, lightweight backpack with good support and a capacity of at least...

    Australians phone question

If you want to keep your number then the only solution is to use international roaming. I believe you can purchase an international roaming package on your Telstra account for around $10 per day. To me, that is a lot of money. A SIM swap is much cheaper but you don’t get to use your Australian...

    Best U.S. $$$ Denominations

In my travelling I have always found that that is the most expensive way to get foreign currency. I always buy currency “in country”. It may be different if your home currency is not a well known one (eg Hungarian Forint) but for USD and even AUD it is best to exchange in country. IME.

    Recommend AirTags for Pack/luggage transfers

It shouldn’t do that. As long as you have your linked iPhone with you, it won’t make any noise.

    Recommend AirTags for Pack/luggage transfers

The AirTags rely on an Apple iPhone coming within Bluetooth range for them to be able to report their location. In your daughter’s dog’s case it is possible that no iPhones came within range for a period of time.

    Money exchange rates

Sorry for distracting but that phrase gave me a smile for the morning.

    Questions about eSim card

In the past, when travelling overseas, I have popped out my Aussie SIM and popped in a local SIM. (As I am sure most of us have). I now have an iPhone that supports 2 SIMs (one physical, one eSIM). On my latest trip a couple of weeks back, to Bali, I took advantage of the dual SIM capability...

Where can I change to the Spanish Sim Card on CF?

This is a list of phones that will work with eSIMs from the FlexiRoam website. iOS – iPhone XR – iPhone XS, XS Max, XS Max Global – iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max – iPhone SE 2020 – iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max – iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max – iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd, 4th...

Where can I change to the Spanish Sim Card on CF?

Given that the OP has an iPhone 11 that permits use of an esim, it may be worthwhile considering something like FlexiRoam. It is a data only service but is very well priced and includes a facility that permits calls to any phone (and cleverly showing the call as coming from your normal number)...

    Camino Frances 2022

I’m so jealous. I now can’t see myself doing my first until 2023. In the meantime I will just have to live it vicariously through this forum. (Central Coast, NSW).

    Phone around the neck

What about those holders that I see joggers wearing on their upper arm to hold their phone? Would that work for you?

Has anyone traveled with a dog....how was it ?

There are many reasons for people to do this. The dog may be old or ill but still benefits from the mental stimulation from getting out and about. For many people a dog is their best friend. If they need to walk their dog in a pram then they should be permitted to without being ridiculed.
