Don't forget Masks, Hand Sanitizer, Sleeping Bag, Sleeping Pad and Contactless Credit/Debit Card..

This might sound like a stupid question, but will one be required to wear a mask at night while sleeping in the albergues or is social distance enough? Is a mask necessary when inside any building, public or private right now?

    OBSOLETE COVID THREAD I'm plummeting...

I am with you Chrissy, you are not alone. Today I would also have been on my 10th day walking the Frances, arriving in Ventosa. I've also been in a real funk lately; feeling down. depressed, angry and sad. The rain here in VA isn't helping much either. We'll get over it I'm sure, but it's hard...

El Primitivo te espera (the Primitivo is waiting for you)

I need to look into the Primitivo. After my Camino was cancelled (would have started the Frances on Wed) I decided when I was able to go that I would do a different one that was not as well traveled to help support the albergues and locals. Would this be a good one to walk when things are open...

    Orisson's Cancellation/Refund Policy

I might have to write them again and ask . It’s been 18 days since I requested a refund and was told they were having problems with paypal.

    Orisson's Cancellation/Refund Policy

Me also. And on their website they say paypal has suspended their telephone platform but they are slowly trying to refund reservations. My stay was for 22 April, nothing yet.

    Save the Las Herrerias horses.

I’m glad it’s legit, I also made a small contribution as I planned on taking the horses up in May only because it sounded different and a way to support the locals. I hope to make it there in the fall or next year if things are back to “normal”.

Stencils for making St James Torte de Santiago

I believe it is the same one. I wrote and asked and explained why I wanted one so badly. I got a nice reply today and was told they don't normally ship overseas because of the cost and customs issues but they will send one to me and will forward a link for me to pay if I want one. I am so happy...

Stencils for making St James Torte de Santiago

Posted here because I have know idea what forum to post this. I was planning on buying a metal St James cross stencil for the Torte de Santiago as a souvenir (and for when I bake) when I reached Santiago, so of course that's out the window for now. Just talking about this stencil on one of my...

We are GOING! And I decorated my pack . . .

I had to edit after seeing some replies. I love this! I have the same pack! How did you attach your patch? I am going to try to use self stick velcro dots. I have several to put on.....I might try more decorations using fabric paint. I fly out of DC 18 April and start at SJPDP 22 Apr. Buen...

UPDATED POST: umbrellas are different-Trekking umbrellas

That's what happened to me, I bought on Amazon, also I thought it was Euroschirm telescoping one but received the non telescoping one, so now I am going to have to reorder because I waited too long to return it.

    Umbrellas

You can and it doesn't count as your "personal item" also.

American pilgrims may be interested in this page...

I took a class at REI 2 weeks ago. One of the staff did the Frances, the other did the Portuguese. Alot of good information was given out, I highly recommend checking it out if you have an REI close by.

They also ask to consider a donation if you can. I gladly gave them $10 to help support the organization.

    Recommendation for best Ladies Pack

I am taking my Osprey Tempest and will take my loaded pack to REI to help me adjust it properly. Good idea.

    IKEA Ponchos

I bought the FroggToogs ultralight and I am short enough that it actually covers most of me with my backpack on. I'm going to try attaching those stickable velcro dots I found at Joann Craft store along the sides to cinch it up a bit.

Confusion between Hostels Juan de Yepes and Santa Brigida in Hontanas

My Brierley guide says summer though the Wise Pilgrim guide says May. I wonder if it’s possible to make it to San Anton in 1 day leaving Burgos? I think I am confusing San Anton with San Nicholas...

Confusion between Hostels Juan de Yepes and Santa Brigida in Hontanas

I wanted to stay at the monastery but they are not open toll June and I will be in Hontanas mid May. I am really disappointed!
