Also found that having the Miroless/Dslr camera on one's chest felt a lot lighter than in the backpack and you dont have to stop and open your pack etc to take a photo. Used short straps hooked on the front backpack straps (so as not to have camera strap strain on one's neck) with the Peak...
Impossible to not have a camera of sorts on the Camino and especially having taken photos for many a decade. Was not concerned about security but weight. Used a Sony a6400 with unfortunately it's stock 16-50mm lens as was rather light and pics were actually fine. For video used an Osmo Pocket...
Carried my insulin in water based evaporation pouches which makes it rather heavy and had to resort to putting some in my luggage which was very efficiently transported to each hotel by the CORREOS on the last part of the French.
Wonderful post and details well the cons but especially the pros of the CF as I have battled with the many alternatives for a short Camino due time, and especially as you say: "The Camino is a place that offers us a glimpse into the world as it should be. A place where simple acts of kindness...
There seems to be much confusion on the boat wether it counts or not - have heard from those who frown on not having walked to that the boat is recognised and even gives you a stamp? Will be starting in Tui via the VS - which even with the boat is about 135kms.
Walking4fun good as has both CF and CP central and coastal
Also Camino for Good - you pay but most of the proceeds are to help albergues and has some nice Zooms
For whatever backpack, I switched to Source bladders that have glass like technology including the tube and protected against bacteria growth, extremely practical ie no need to clean especially when used constantly, keep in fridge when not used and no plastic taste. The mouth piece has its own...
Take a look at walking4fun.com which has the French and Portuguese Costal & Central Camino with pictures along the way, maps, progress. Learned about in on the forum. Almost half way on the CF in 2.5 months. Great for turtles and quarantined & frustrated with a cancelled Camino.
Was to start today a long planned first Camino, and from the tsunami of wonderful comments which has lifted the spirits to your brave words felt by so many, I just keep thinking the Camino is still there and pray that we all stay safe and well and soon to be on it.
Beautiful photos - its in the eye and the rest is what you publish. Lugging an expensive camera is not the best idea and still it doesn't take the photos by itself!!! Also in depression over a cancelled Camino, but theses photos and the many lovely vids make it "almost real".
Trying to grasp that 2020 maybe out for me, when will travel return to normal? Hope I am very wrong for all the pelegrinos and the people whose livelihood depends on the Camino. So thanks the virtual camino in quarantine - the perfect alternative for a 🐢!

Great idea, but didn't quite make it to "Alto Del Perdon" today walking in the streets around my house!
Hope I can catch up in the next days!!!
Group CF2020 - open
Just leaving Pamplona!!! on www.walking4fun.com, What a great site and thanks to Sue 127 for it. When you are limited to 1.5kms from your house and about 1 to 2 hours a day ie about 5/10kms per day, should reach Santiago before end 2020, but it really gives one the incentive and "joy" of doing...
