Hi Meggie, are you trying to book albergues or private accommodation? I'm going for a week at the end of September and have booked all of my accomodations, some on booking.com and some direct. Albergues don't always take reservations, I did the Norte back in 2022 and many people had problems...
Hi, I missed the Meseta first time around too, in 2019 but it was always calling to me! I went back last June and I loved it, it's magical, ancient and probably one of the best stages along the Frances, you should go :) Also, I have walked the Norte/Primitvo and the first week is fabulous but...
I walked Gernika to Bilbao, I remember it was really lovely until Larrabetzu and after that it was on unshaded road for 8km or so, it was a little tough because it was a super hot day , but with a hat and water, not too difficult.
I stayed at Pension Una Estrella Dorada in O'Pedrouzo, it was raining when I was there so I didn't get to use it but there was a small pool and it was on the Camino.
Biggest surprise came at the end of my first Camino in 2019, I started it as a 'bucket list' once in a lifetime thing and was shocked at the amount of people I met on their 3rd, 4th, umpteenth! camino...but as I sat overlooking the sea in Finisterre I knew I would do it again. This year I'll...
If you're foodies San Sebastian and Bilbao for the Guggenheim, agree with Tincatinker, Llanes great for a chill out and Oviedo great too, I went off onto the Primitivo so I can't say for the rest of the Norte.
I did the Primitivo end of September last year, I had a mixture of mostly warm weather and just a few days of rain, being English the rain wasn't a problem for me :) and it wasn't so heavy that it made walking a problem. There are definitely fewer pilgrims and days when you walk alone for a lot...
I did the Norte alone last September, I got to Bilbao in 5 days from Irun, yes it's pretty tough that first week with lots of climbs and descents, challenging, especially if its's hot, but incredible, both for the views and the feeling of accomplishment when you reach the top and bottom :)...
Hi, I did the Primitvo last September, I stayed at the Soho Oviedo, it was a cute hotel not far from the route...The Areces, small, clean and the owners were fab...the wife made great cake :), Casa deAldea in Berducedo...Stunning! Great food, great place, great hostess!, the hotel Mendez Nunez...
Hi, I combined the Norte from Irun to Villaviciosa then Primitivo to Santiago and also walked to Muxia last September, it was 36 walking days, I took 2 rest days along the way, like you, I'm in average shape, it is definitely doable in the time and I agree with everybody else, the beginning from...
Hello, yes there is a bridge across, it's a nice 30 minute walk from train station to the centre of Irun. I did it last year, it's a lovely feeling walking across and seeing the first yellow arrows!
