Safety concerns: First time walking Camino Portuguese as a female traveller

I'm a 63 year old woman who walked the full Portuguese Camino from Lisbon in 2022. I walked single, on my own and never had any problems. It's just like any other form of travel; be aware, keep your wits about you and be prepared. Make sure you know how to call for help on your phone. I also...

    Portable Charger

I had an iPhone X on my last Camino. I used it for EVERYTHING. The GPS saved me a number of times, for hours at end, while walking from Lisbon to Porto. Prior to my departure though, I went to an authorized repair centre where I got the batter replaced. That saved me! I never ran out of...

What part of the Camino from Lisbon to Porto is worth seeing?

Tomar and Coimbra - get a tour of the university when you are in COIMBRA. I chose to spend an extra day there and it was well worth it.

    Lost/delayed Luggage

I've been told that there are so many iphones right now, that being 'near' an iPhone isn't too much of a problem. I'm working on that theory, and hoping for the best.... Here's a bit more about that: https://medium.com/macoclock/heres-how-airtags-actually-work-4dbdde1608c3

    Lost/delayed Luggage

A suggestion - I too have fears of lost luggage, despite a 4.5 hr connection window between flights. I decided to go ahead and buy an Apple Air Tag. the Air Tag links to my iPhone and I will know where my bag is at all times. If it gets stuck and an airport, I'll know. If it lands up in Doha...

    Cash on the Camino

@canary Can you share that link with us? Heading out to Portugal in a couple weeks.

    Shipping to myself

Not 'illegal,' just not available. And not planning to bring back to Canada if the results are marginal. Might as well stick with acetaminophen &/or ibuprofen.

    Shipping to myself

Yes it is. And I sure hope it works!

    Shipping to myself

Not ready to go that route. They give me a 'hangover.'

    Shipping to myself

There's a German produced product that is supposed to relieve arthritis pain. Shipping to Canada would be a nightmare - it's trying to send a pharmaceutical-like item that isn't on a specified government list. So, why not try when in the EU? Sadly, only sold in Germany.....

    Shipping to myself

Hello - I'm curious to know if anyone has had challenges shipping from Amazon to their arrival accommodation? I'm interested in shipping from Amazon.de (for something I cannot purchase in Canada) to the lodging I have arranged for in Lisbon. Has anyone tried this? I do this frequently when I...

    Arthritis GELENCIUM herbal medication

Is this the so-called miracle product to help me with the arthritis in my hip? I walked a 15 km 'training' walk on Wednesday and was limping before I got to 10 km and could barely move by the end, but just kept going until I reached my goal. Stretches of my hip flexors aren't helping...

    Organising Information

One thing I've done is make notes in my Calendar app on my iPhone. I keep coming across people's comments about good restaurants, or 'beware of dogs,' or even warnings that there were few breaks between X & Y. I'm hoping this method will give me daily, location specific notifications of what...

    Lisbon airport passport delay

Duh.... Forgot about that. Thank you. It's been soooooooo long......

    Lisbon airport passport delay

I see this was on your US Embassy website. As a Canadian, I will be arriving in AMS first before transferring to a flight to Lisbon. Just curious if there are any other reliable, and up-to-date sites we should be monitoring?

Comfy shoes/boots and laces that don't come undone

Wow! fantastic site. I always have loose heels in shoes and have tried only a couple of these lacing techniques. Thanks for sharing.

SIM card for Spain and Portugal?

I even used Vodafone when I was working in the Middle East. It's everywhere! Like you said, one big company, but each country is a separate entity.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Camino Mask Strategies?

Agreed - just because people aren't wearing masks, or being required to wear masks doesn't mean that airborne viruses have disappeared. Sounds like the best thing to do is to bring an initial supply of masks from home and replenish as necessary.

Walking solo and not wanting to get lost!

In August this year, I will be walking solo from Lisbon to Porto on the Central route, meeting my travel companion in Porto. I just hate getting lost (yes, I know it's part of the 'experience') and am wondering if I could have your recommendations for the best step-by step directions. On my...
