My husband (age 56) and I (age 58) walked from Sarria to Compostela in mid May--excellent weather. We were rained on only once! Like most Pilgrims our first day on the Camino we were on a mission, walking with a brisk pace but by the next day we relaxed and began to take in the beauty of the...
Hello to all,
My husband and I will begin our Walk from Sarria on the 15th of May. When we checked the weather it stated there will be rain.
Can anyone tell me if we should prepare for a downpour and if rain gear over our hiking jackets and paint necessary to purchase?
Thank you!
Kathar1na, Thank you for your reply. Yes, my husband and I will fly direct from DC to Madrid. I have all 3 shots but my husband only had 2 after a bad reaction to the 1st booster he didn't want to get the 3rd one. Ugh! We both hope he won't be denied access to Spain. We just took the Walgreen's...
I thought a PCR is the _required test_. Has this changed?
We depart for Madrid this Thursday evening. I will have a PCR test done at 3pm today at Walgreens and pray our results will be sent to me by Wednesday.
Greetings from Northern Virginia,
My husband, Ron and I (Lesley) will begin our Comino on May 13 from Sarria. I would like to know if other Pilgrims meet up for lunch or dinner at each village they will stay the night. Our luggage will be transported from one lodging to the next so we will...
Molly,
Thank you for your reply. We plan to begin in Sarria, have our bags transported from one spot to the next, and enjoy the journey. I think you are correct, without a guide we'll have more freedom ;)
All,
My husband and I had planned to go on this walk with a UTracks Guide but at this current time no one else has signed up for this tour, if this is the case we still want to walk the Camino from Sarria to Compestella and just have our bags transported from place to place plus have...
Greetings,
Yes, I was wondering this myself so thank you for pointing out weekend hikes vs waking the Camino plus how we should train and what to look out for. I know there has been some talk about hiking boots vs hiking shoes. I'm still on the fence about this but plan to talk to some people...
Jimmy,
Thank you for your suggestion to walk 15-25 per day a couple of weeks prior to our departure. We may need to break that up since we still need to work but we may be able to make something happen!
Hi Rosalinda,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, we have hiked the Manassas Battlefields. We also have hiked a number of trails in Shenandoah National Park including Old Rag. I'm looking forward to being on this walk and just walking and allowing myself to just take in all that is around me and...
Greetings from Northern Virginia,
My husband and I plan to walk the Comino from Sarria in mid-May. We're in our mid 50's both in relatively good shape, we hike 10-12 miles without any issue but we do plan to train some for the Comino. Suggestions welcomed! ;)
I would like to fly into Madrid...
