Thanks. I'll definitely add the Burgos location in our next update to the map. Though I'm sure I'm not the first one to say this: the less is said about all the "gypsy" scenes, the better...
Thanks a lot to everyone for your warm words. I'm really glad to see that people liked it.
I didn't know about the church in Zariquiegui. Thanks! As I said, if there's any spot I missed, feel free to tell me and I'll update the map as time permits.
Hi all:
I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks, but as usual, real life gets in the way...
Anyway: there have been in this forum a few threads listing the places where "The Way" was shot, and I thought that it would be a good idea to compile the information in them in a single place...
Well, actually...
That idea (the time zone change after the Civil War) has gained widespread popularity in the last few years, but there has been some pushback too. In particular, some claim that spanish schedules are neither as rare nor as late as it's made out to be, specially considering...
The exhibition has been extended to April 24th. We did a small writeup in our blog:
Exhibition “Master Mateo” in the Museo del Prado
I should mention, though, that I did visit it and it's a relatively small exhibition: only two rooms. It has several statues made in Master Mateo's workshop...
That's really cool!
I wonder if one could write Google asking for them to unblur your face in this particular case. "No, really, I don't care about my privacy here; in fact, I willingly surrender it in exchange for bragging rights..."
In the link I posted, there are some portuguese people commenting about it. They say that it's currently not allowed to charge for something unless the customer ordered it, but that it's so ingrained in the culture that most restaurants still do it, and some of them do try to rip off...
Not sure if this is the proper forum... Anyway, when walking the Camino and seeing an old medieval cathedral, it would be interesting to have this in mind:

This is called "couvert", and there have been cases of restaurants in Portugal that tried to rip off tourists with this practice, so much that apparently a few years a law was passed banning it. (I must say that this never happened to me when I was at Lisbon). More info here...
Similar anecdote: spaniards who are learning English are told that, when going abroad and trying to get cold medicine in a pharmacy, they don't say "I am constipated". ("Constipado" is a colloquial way to talk about a cold in spanish).
I can't recommend specific courses, but agree with the messages above about the importance of practicing.
In my experience learning foreign languages, studying grammar, vocabulary... can only take you so far (which isn't to say they are not important). There comes a point where the only way to...
I don't think there's anything wrong with researching and preparing for a trip beforehand. It may sound very romantic to go boldly into the unknown, but in practice, a bit of previous research can save you from headaches and even dangerous situations (as we're sadly being reminded of lately)...
