That may be so, but I wonder about selection and training of volunteers. In my opinion, there's a difference between directness and rudeness and I experienced the latter on one occasion.

Actually yes, I've just had a flashback to an extremely rude older volunteer who was quite vindictive at dinner time.
It takes a special team to deal with people who have been walking all day over a very arduous route and are exhausted. A generous dose of tolerance and welcome is required!
Thanks for the welcome, Tincatinker ! I'm tuning in for quite a while now on and off. I'm not embarrassed about not noticing the date, but did feel a little frustrated, that's all. Thanks for your input to the forum. It's a helpful and interesting group of people to be in touch with.
I can appreciate that. I'm not going then, but have done it twice now. You'll meet lots of people, and plenty of them also walking alone who'll be delighted to have your company. Also - there were four of us and we met two separate 'singles' who joined us. It was wonderful! Buen camino!
