Walking the Camino Frances on stilts

Well, that would increase one’s stride.

    Where are albergues with stoves?

I wouldn’t count on cooking in any given albergue. If gronze or a guide says there is a stove, there may or may not be one. If there is one, it might not work, or the pots, pans, and utensils have been removed due to Covid.

That pretty much, but not entirely, sums up tourist destinations.

SIM cards for non EU citizens doing Camino Frances landing in Paris

I bought it in Paris at an Orange store. Since I walked from Paris, I needed 7-8 weeks of service, and prepay is available in 2 week increments. I prepaid for four 2-week increments at the store in Paris. The salesman loaded one increment while in the store and gave me three receipt slips...

SIM cards for non EU citizens doing Camino Frances landing in Paris

I bought Orange pre-paid for 8 weeks. It cost about 10 euro per week. Worked like a charm from Paris to Fisterra. Would buy it again.

From which country this pilgrim is from?

After greeting the walker(s), yes. I’ve lived and walked in Europe long enough to have learned that Southern Europeans, especially the women, usually wear long pants.

    camino tips

Weight, and how its discussion is terrifying me.

The consensus here seems to be that folks are satisfied/comfortable with their pack weight, whatever that may be. Trust me, it’s a lot more satisfying/comfortable with a few less pounds on your back all day. You need less than you think.

    5-10km/day pilgrims

Trekking poles will take considerable weight off your feet, knees, and legs. They are specially helpful on the downhills.

    crowded camino--> bringing tent?

Leave the tent home, especially on a crowded route like the Frances. Free-form tenting is not a good idea in Spain or much of Europe. Buy a SIM card and call ahead (6-24 hours) to reserve if: the hostel takes reservations; you think it could be crowded. Alternatively, hike early and stop early...

    Keeping Contents of Pack Dry

Use a trash compactor (heavy duty) bag to line your pack. Pack covers are useless. Forget the poncho, unless you like lots of wet fabric. Get an umbrella and attach it to your pack strap with zip ties or velcro. Has kept me and my pack drier than other options. And no rain in your face.

Has anyone traveled with a dog....how was it ?

Leave Fido at home. Everyone will be happier.
