    We’re here SJPDP

So happy for you! I agree that SJPDP is a truly beautiful place to relax and become centered before starting out. Such a sense of being part of a historical spiritual community. I found that lighting a candle and sitting in the simple, beautiful church the night before leaving was deeply...

    Zubiri hazardous path

Hello, That resonates with me. In late April 2022 there was a stretch of downhill to Zubiri that was treacherous. Sharp-edged narrow rocks separated by spaces where a misplaced ankle might suffer some real damage. I was very grateful to get through that area. We heard that there were several...

    Starting tomorrow

So excited for you, Kiwi Bob! I left on April 28th, 2022 on my CF Camino. It was life-changing and a beautiful time of year to walk in the springtime. I am older and had some health issues but I experienced grace taking one day at a time. God bless you on your journey ahead and Buen Camino! Daniel

Greetings, I wish you well on your Camino. I was 68 in 2022 and left SJPdP on April 28th. I chose to bring my 40 degree bag and I was glad that I did. All God’s blessings on you and Buen Camino, Daniel

Is a sleeping bag or a liner enough for the Camino in April?

I took a light sleeping bag and a liner on the CF starting in April 2022. It worked out well and there were many cooler nights where I felt snug and comfortable in my sleeping bag. May God bless you on your journey! Buen Camino, Daniel

Finding my way along the route

Greetings Joe, Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Camino community. I was 68 last year when I walked the Camino Frances and was not an accomplished long distance hiker, although I recommend practicing walking regularly with your backpack to help make the beginning of your journey more...

Warm clothing for a late April departure?

Greetings, So happy for you regarding your upcoming Camino! I walked the CF from SJPP beginning late April last year. It was cold and rainy in the Pyrenees, and then cold in the early mornings until the Meseta, where it was hot. Layers, including a long sleeve thermal sweatshirt, worked for me...

How Important Was It To You To Do "Full" CF ?

Warm greetings. I met numerous pilgrims on the CF that were doing the Camino in stages over years during their vacation times. Their comments were typically that each time they re-started they experienced a fresh sense of the pilgrimage. I was very grateful, however, for the grace given to...
