I've given myself 2 nights in Vienna before I start walking so hopefully that will be enough rest. o_O
Thanks for your thoughts on not booking in advance. Definitely feels more appropriate to me; allowing for leeway depending on flight, how I feel, etc.
Looking for advice regarding train travel with OBB.
I'm arriving midday in Venice and need to get to Vienna by the following day. I'm considering spending the day in Venice and taking the (approx) 1.00 am overnighter but if I'm exhausted from my overnight flight from Canada, I may want to...
My understanding is no but I could be very wrong about that.
PW's are required to book their Vienna, Bratislava and Trieste nights so those are left to your choice. The rest along the way are organized by EPW crew. Some may be established accomodations but I believe some have been "created"...
Hi Zolarose, the info I was given was about 100 euros worth of Hungarian Forint and about the same for Croatian Kuna. I actually am taking a bit less than that, simply because I've been really hit hard by the drop of the Canadian Loonie (dollar).
I will do my best enroute but if it doesn't materialize, I will post once I'm back home. I've never done one but will be looking into it over the next couple of weeks. Historically I've always done group emails but I do see the value of having a blog with a few photos as one goes.
1. re Hungary and Croatia - wondering approximately how much of each currency (forint and kuna) should be estimated based on the time spent in those 2 countries?
2. I thought I read somewhere suggested places to spend an extra day along the route but I can't find it anymore. Anyone have...
Wondering whether anyone else will be starting August 25th?
I don't do Facebook so feel at a definite disadvantage. This is my first foray into long distance walking so would love to hear from others starting on that date.
So I've finally booked what seems to be the easiest and most affodable option for me ... direct flight Montreal to Venice return with Air Transat. An overnight train from Venice to Vienna and then 2 nights in Vienna to rest up before I start my walk.
Now I just have to hope I added enough...
Wow, thanks for the feedback. I had never heard of hipmunk so I'll add it to my list of resources. And the London Gatwick return with Air Transat is a great idea. I was thinking one-way both directions but the overseas return with one way EU flights is much better.
Thanks again, both of you...
At the very last minute, I jumped. I'm registered for EPW, start date 25 August and I'm thrilled !!! But now for the details .....
Coming from Canada, I'm looking for the most economical way to get to Vienna. Direct to Vienna is quite expensive - my preliminary research suggests either...
I just went to the European Peace Walk website to register but the page is not coming up. Did I miss it because of time difference between Canada and Europe?
Edited: I was able to register on the morning of 1 July 2015.
