I am womanand I bought an Osprey Stratos which is the men's version of the Osprey Sirrus. I tried them both on and didn't notice much difference. The woman in the shop agreed with me and said she has a men's specific pack also. I wouldn't get too worried about men's and women's packs just try...
I completely agree, I would never try this myself but its fun to think about and I would be interested to meet anyone who had tried it. I suspect it would end up being more expensive and inconvenient that taking a backpack.
my ideas for a pockets only packing list:
-1 walking outfit including pants/shorts with lots of pockets
-1 night outfit including a small pair of swim shorts and a super light tee that could fit in a pocket
-1 extra pair of socks and undies
-1 tiny disposable poncho
-1 silk liner
-1 small water...
