    Route from Vigo changed?

Could you post a screenshot of the route through Vigo in Buen Camino? I know we followed wise pilgrim so when I opened it and saw no route through downtown Vigo I felt like I was losing my mind! In photos on FB the bike lane looks horrible to me. Totally sterile and removed from the city.

    Route from Vigo changed?

I’m seeing a lot of discussion on FB about the route out of Vigo. People are recommending taking a new bike path that starts at the Ascensor Halo and ends at Chapela because the official route is ugly, boring, or something. I don’t remember it being bad at all last fall so I pulled up my photos...

Senda Litoral late April-May and what to pack

I wore Brook Ghosts which are road runners as opposed to trail runners. Maximum cushioning. Not very durable but they easily lasted my SL/Coastal Camino. I’m still wearing them.

    Camping along the coastal route

Camping along the Camino is not that easy. I think you’ll have to walk a long way off route each night to find a camp ground. Are you trying to save money or you just like sleeping under the stars?

Portuguese coastal in February '24 – observations and reflections

or if you’re moving with the “wave” you’re not aware of the wave.

Into Baiona - Litoral or Coastal?

This is very interesting to me. No one has mentioned the “bike path”. We took the overland route because I was so sick and tired of walking on that “bicycle path” which was really a painted yellow lane on a very busy road (busiest road of the entire Camino). Wise Pilgrim said the coastal route...

Portuguese coastal in February '24 – observations and reflections

Wow. I walked my first Camino on the Senda Litoral in late September last year, too. That was an astounding number? I wasn’t staying in albergues though. Was that where you saw them? There were lots starting in Baiona and Vigo but to that point we’d see a few a day, more in isolated cafes. We...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Portugues - Coastal from Porto: Starting in Porto

Re. Grilled octopus This was the best I’ve ever had: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ButRCveanexQHMtq5?g_st=ic On the Senda Litoral before Vigo. Thank you for live posting your walk. It’s so lovely to relive the CP. I walked it last October.

    Senda Litoral Details and Route

We walked the Senda Litoral whenever it was available which really just meant when presented with an option we took the path that goes closest to the water. You join and leave the coastal many times but I didn't care which I was on. Honestly, I wasn't even aware which I was on half the time. I...

    Weather in October

Yes, I was quite prepared for rain but those that came after us and kept walking were very brave! I don’t think I would have made it.

    Weather in October

We left Porto the same day! We cut over to the central at Vila da Condo and cut back to coast at Ponte de Lima, then Spiritual Variante. Lovely walk, wasn’t it? To OP: It was unseasonably hot and dry. My new Decathlon poncho never left its pouch. The unrelenting sun was our only weather...

Alternative towns to Mougas and Vigo

We stayed at Hotel Glasgow in Viladesuso because we couldn’t find anything else with a private room. It’s like a tacky roadside hotel in Florida. Not offensive in anyway just charmless. Neon sign, bus tours, sun burned tourists getting drunk by the pool. The town is dominated by a big Repsol gas...

A Guarda - Bruselas or Convento San Benito?

Omg I’d forgotten about the port! We had a very nice breakfast too which I think was included?

Walking solo and staying in hotels - share your experience of solitude

I was with a friend on the CP coastal this fall but each day we walked separately. I only walked with other pilgrims a few times and that was after Vigo. We saw very few pilgrims before then and then it was just a Bom caminho in passing. You’ll have plenty of alone time. If you’re feeling a...

    Reflections on the Senda Litoral

I walked the SL/Coastal route in October with a friend and we had no problem getting twin rooms in small hotels and guest houses. We were never able to get a private twin room in a hostel booking only a few days ahead. Twin bed rooms are much more common than in North America. In towns look for...

Best towns near Porto along the Camino

Wow, that is not the Matosinhos I walked through. We did detour away from the water in the old town to check out the fish market which took us past a great little family run restaurant with a few tables on the sidewalk. Dad was manning the grill outside and we couldn’t resist his friendly...

Best towns for an extra day? Porto-Santiago

We didn’t take a day off but A Guarda was where I wanted to. We stayed at the convent and the restaurants we ate at on the port were fantastic. Some of the best seafood of our Camino and we ate seafood every day. Nothing fancy and full of locals so great people watching. I just wanted to go to...

    Porto to Baiona follow along

My walking partner made a movie like this of me walking from Porto to SdC in October! I didn’t know she was filming me so it was a really lovely gift after we returned to our distant homes. My mother also loved it and is showing it to everyone she meets :)

Some experiences on Camino Portugues Costa

https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/armenteira-monastery-no-longer-takes-reservations-for-pilgrims.83787/#post-1193669 We were able to book a room with 2 twin beds for one night in October after they had a cancellation. It was 70euros without breakfast. We felt immensely privileged...
