I am currently walking the Senda Litoral route. I walked along the river and coast to Matosinhos on the first morning, so I could take the excellent tour of the Pinhais Sardine cannery, and stayed in Matosinhos that night. Day 2 I walked on to Vila donConde. Bom caminho!
I stayed at Convento San Benito - the service was wonderful, the history of the building was fascinating, the location near the water was excellent, breakfast was lovely. Highly recommend staying here. Also the fact that it is at the bottom of a quite steep hill, and Hotel Bruselas is at the top...
I plan to be walking between Esposende and Viana do Castelo on 19 September and will take the Coastal Way rather than the Senda Litoral for this section. If any other solo peregrinas would like some company, let me know.
Thanks @jungleboy for your lovely writing - I'll be walking a combination of the Coastal Way and Senda Litoral in a couple of weeks and have made a note about the "beach of crystals"
Thanks @Lillie - I will be travelling from Australia to walk the Portuguese Coastal Camino in September - my first camino - so I'm keen to hear about your experiences.
Bom Caminho!
