I took the bus to Muxia and spent time at the lighthouse and beach. Next day walked to Lires. Myself and another pilgrim missed the turnoff so did more road walking than we should have. Went to the beach. Then walked ro Finisterre and went to the beach. I wished I'd stayed two nights as I wasn't...
Almost killed me too. Everything is now in context of walking from SJPDP to Orisson. That is why I was surprised the so called killer climb on the spiritual from Combarro to Almenteira was such an anti-climax.
I won't name and shame but an albergue on the portuguese is 3 euros cheaper on booking.com than its own website. The original rice is 30 euros which I thought high for a dorm bed.
As I mentioned I am having Gronze translated into English so I found the Girlfriend's Place and didn't put two and two together. Street names are also translated so can get a bit confusing.
Well this is 30 minutes out from Oia on the coastal/litoral portugeuse way. I was so disgusted that it was right beside the path and then began noticing tissues etc. all along the trail. I'm currently in Baiona. I will post on the Camino Facebook groups a reminder that women bring along a...
i did stay in a municipal where the manager cooked meals. There wasn't any bars or restaurants in town and I had walked past the popular town that everyone else stayed at. A couple staying at a b&b nearby had dinner with us and it wasn't a problem.
In The Way Martin Sheen's pack gets stolen while unattended outside a bar. I left my pack with others while getting coffee or food from a bar and didn't have a problem. Especially when others where doing the same and in small towns not the cities. I'm not sure if there have been incidents though.
I met an American woman on the bus from Bayonne to SJPDP and we went to the camino office together. She bought a scallop shell and bought me one and we bought put them on our pack. I think it just lets everyone know that you are a pilgrim. I didn't realise the original idea was that you put it...
I have the certificate but they didn't ask if I had any pre-existing illness, I don't, or any undiagnosed symptoms. Perhaps I should delay my annual blood test though.
But if you try and cut corners with any travel insurance, not declaring any pre-existing illnesses you could easily get caught. For example, I had a bike accident a couple of months ago, show doctor as I was in a lot of pain trying to walk, got an xray of hip area. No fractures etc., but who...
I have a copy of the letter of eligibility and reference number all done online. No claims on pre-existing illnesses but I wasn't asked to disclose them. The confirming email also stated that if I wished to put in a claim while overseas, I needed to provide proof of eligibility which is the...
I am considering using the travel insurance associated with my credit card. It's valid for 90 days, and I will be away for 65 days. It covers overseas emergency medical, including COVID-related. Need to be aged under 76 years though. I asked a similar question in a Facebook group and one...
You haven't told us how many days you are planning on walking the CF. What was the daily rate quoted? As others mentioned it should cost about 6-8 euros per day, but I walked in 2018.
What to not expect, lots of blisters and bed bugs. Yes, I didn't realise that food and drink and accommodation (stayed in albergues or municipals) would be so cheap, I walked in 2018. I liked walking the meseta. Also, you many not find your camino family, one of the expectations that My Way...
