    Commercial walking stunt from Wolksvagen

I think that it is only available in Norway.

Cafe con leche different this year?

I was in Malaga, Cordoba and Seville in Jan and Feb and the coffee there was much stronger than I am used to in the north. So yes, I think it might be a regional difference.

    What about “té con leche”?😀

I love my tea too! If you order a tea in a cafe, they usually fill the cup with hot water and give you a tea bag on the side. Makes a very weak cuppa. I always bring a few tea bags with me as well as a few milk sticks and a very light plastic mug (which doubles as a fruit carrier), then I can...

Mosquito with same size of a Pterodactylus! Don´t Kill it!

That is a Daddy longlegs. It does not have wings and is an arachnid (though not a spider), whilst a tipula has wings and is an insect (I think...). Otherwise, I agree. Interesting video.

Mosquito with same size of a Pterodactylus! Don´t Kill it!

My mother always used to call them flydi binders. Harmless creatures but quite difficult to throw outside without hurting them. And as regards bedbugs - after all the current fuss and bother in the UK press about the problems with them in France, I was pleasantly relieved that I saw no sign of...

    Need Advice on Route Change

I just got back from the camino frances on Monday, having walked from Grañon to Leon. I mainly stayed in smaller 'between stages' villages and found, as a result, that the camino was lovely and peaceful. Apart from leaving Villafranca Montes de Oca, I never encountered streams of pilgrims...

    The culture has changed...sadly

If you look at the map that you link to, you do not find a route that goes from Bristol, then heads north of Oxford and then on to London. That is the route shown on the map of Caminos on the wiki page that I am querying. I'd never heard of it, and the pilgrimage page seems to confirm my...

    The culture has changed...sadly

I was not talking about the wiki dispute. I was talking about missing routes. And what are all those routes in the UK about - what is that route that goes from Bristol to London north of Oxford? I've not heard of a camino there.

    The culture has changed...sadly

Just looked up Camino de Santiago on Wikipedia for a laugh. First thing you see is that in Jan 2023 is that the factual accuracy of the map is disputed. I think most on here would dispute it too. So much for wiki's reliability. I completely agree with JabbaPapa's assessment.

    The culture has changed...sadly

I'm an 'old timer' and am certainly not upset by your comment, it's probably got more than a grain of truth in it. I hate FB. I joined the Le Puy FB group but gave up because I found it impossible to search for past answers. Maybe this is why newbies just plunge straight in and ask questions...

    The culture has changed...sadly

Totally agree. A couple of weeks ago on the CF, I stayed at Grañon. The hospitalero specifically asked people not to get up before 6. At 5.15, I was woken by someone rustling plastic bags, using a head torch that repeatedly went in my direction. When I turned over, I noticed that the lady who...

Are you always allowed to handwash your clothes?

In Estella, I stayed in the Hostal Agora - a really nice and smart place. BUT they do not allow hand washing as there is nowhere to hang wet laundry. They do however offer to wash and dry your clothes for a fee.

    Poppies

Two weeks ago between Pamplona and at least Burgos it was red red red in many of the fields. And loads of other beautiful flowers too, I might add. My photos are rubbish, so I'll just tell you where and when! 18th May - coming out of Cizur Menor 19th May - on the way back from Eunate 20th May -...

Planning a Group Trip on Camino Trail with Offroad Wheelchair. Recommendations?

Wish you had posted that video at the start - you're pros, you know what you're doing. After Norway, the camino is going to be much easier. There's lot of walking on 'senda' paths that are like walking motorways - really easy for you. There are some rough patches, as I'm sure you're already...

Planning a Group Trip on Camino Trail with Offroad Wheelchair. Recommendations?

Although it was fairly cool last week on the CF, July and August are typically very hot months to walk in. Don't forget that August will be very busy, especially from Sarria onwards, as that is when many Spaniards walk. Accommodation will be tight then. July might well be less busy before Sarria...

Planning a Group Trip on Camino Trail with Offroad Wheelchair. Recommendations?

The Valcarlos route has indeed got some very steep bits and they are near the end of the stage. I found them hard enough to get my self up so goodness knows how tough it would be to push a wheelchair. In addition, there are stretches where the path is quite rough. You could avoid these by...

    Covering your face

My husband walked briefly with a Japanese beautician on his first camino. She told him that she was worried as to what her clients were going to think when she returned home with a tanned face.

Power Struggle in Galicia: The Battle for Wind Farm Proposals

All these large man made objects change the context of the landscape. The high speed rail embankment has totally changed the context of the meseta. Wind turbines on lots of hill tops will change the context of the landscape. Large metal sculptures change the context, drawing our eyes towards...

A note on reserving beds and the spirit of the Camino

My very first camino - the Frances from SJPP to SdC - was very very special to me, precisely because it was so spontaneous and free. After the first 2 pre-booked nights in SJPP and Roncesvalles, I never booked again, and never failed to find somewhere for the night. Sometimes, I stayed in places...

    Do yo know UNTO?

Many thanks for the clarification. Now I know what to call it. We bought some seeds in Santiago a few years ago, from the market - an eggcup full, put into a twist of newspaper. We've been growing it each year since and had hoped to buy some fresh seed in Santiago in 2020. Fortunately, the seed...
