    * BEDBUG ALERT * June 2013 (and quickly dealt with)

Re: ** BEDBUG ALERT ** June 2013 I disagree about not posting alerts. If pilgrims are aware of a bedbug hotspot then they can avoid that particular albergue in the short term until it has been cleaned and therefore reduce the chances of spreading the bugs down the line. Of course it is...

    Did you frame your Compostela?

Completly agree! Definately not irrelevant to me. I will frame mine when I stop moving around so much and have a spot to hang it. I think the idea of hanging it with the passport is a great idea (although how do you see both sides of the passport!!).

Which camino is suited to a winter hike?

Hi everyone, I had planned an Autumn hike along the Le Puy route but having returned to University as part of a career change i'm locked into certain times of the year where I am now free to hike. I'm wondering if any of the camino's would be suited to a hike over Winter? I have previously...

    Post-camino tattoo?

Ooh i like that, thats a really nice tattoo Aldy! Is that on your calf? I'm still dithering, i have images I want but no idea how to put it all together. I really should just take them all into a tattoo shop and get them to draw something for me but how do you explain to someone your journey so...

Assuming it was 'weight-free' what luxury would you take?

Totally agree!! In Molinaseca one of the other guys staying at our albergue gave my sore ankle a massage and oh my gosh it hurt but it felt so much better the next day!

    Good news about bed bugs!

I think there must be a mutant variety of bed bugs on the Camino! I know from personal experience, bed bugs are more than happy to host on a red wine drinker :D

Ave Fenix in Villafranca del Bierzo bedbugs Oct 27, 2012

I disagree that this type of post should not occur. For once of occurrences, yes, potentially keep it off the forums (tho if i was checking in here as i hiked i would like to know which albergues to avoid - perhaps a post can be deleted once confirmation of de-bugging has occurred?). However...

    What about Sangria?

Did your Camino fail or exceed your expectations?

Exceeded 'most' expectations! To be honest i didnt have many expectations going into the walk. I purposely didnt read too many books about others experiences because i didnt want them to direct/inhibit/overshadow (?) my own experiences (other than the original book that led me to the camino!)...

    Bed bugs alert

I got bed bugs (as did another couple) from Ave Fenix in Villafranca del Bierzo earlier this month. When i arrived at the albergue in Ruitelan the hospitalerio did not seem suprised at all...i rather got he impression that he was used to meeting pilgrims who had obtained the hitchikers from...

    Geocaching on the Caminos.

I was planning to do some geocaching during my hike but i've lost my GPS during my recent house move! I fly out this Sat so there's no time to search for my GPS now. I do have an app on my phone which i'll probably use to go geocaching if i get into a town early enough in the day. I...
