Very true, Sabine. Walking is such a joy. We have much to be thankful for and when the time comes when we can no longer walk, may we be graced with the ability to also enjoy sitting and watching the world go by.
A pair of waterproof socks kept my feet dry in early spring when it rained for days in a row and was bitterly cold. A few drawbacks...
When washed, these socks take forever to dry. Next time I would wear a pair of thin liner socks underneath the waterproof socks to get extra wear between...
Lovely views and good looking breakfast. Now I feel like eating a bowl a yoghurt.
This week our Thursday morning walking group saw the Australian version of very big squirrels. A wild mob of around 30 adults and who knows how many joeys, like hanging out during the day at our local wetlands...
Ditto all of the above. Nothing beats throwing your pack on your back and striding out to meet whatever the day brings. I do make sure my backpack is as light as possible and I am thankful that I can carry it. Well actually I’m amazed that I can carry it. At my age I thought it would be a real...
Camigas reported a pilgrim with hypothermia was rescued between SJPdP and Roncesvalles a couple of days ago. Always wise not to underestimate the mountain at any time of year. Good rain gear and a dry change of clothes at a minimum. Stay warm and safe, pilgrims.
What a fun thread.
Growing up I read anything I could get my hands on. As a very young teen, I loved Gerald Durrell...My Family and Other Animals, A Zoo in my Luggage, etc. I remember some years later, visiting Bruny Island when hitchhiking around Tasmania during a uni holiday. It’s a ferry...
Such a nice thread. Why I haven’t I found it before? But it is on my radar now. :)
My little walking group did 10 kms in Bungonia National Park on Sunday
Didn’t know they made trail shoes. Yet another interesting and potentially useful thing that I’ve learned from you, @trecile. My only query is about the depth of the tread. I’ve walked the CF in early Topo Athletic trail runners that had very shallow treads. I felt every pebble, sharp or smooth...
That book drove me crazy too but not because of the trailer. More because all the situations were so contrived. It was almost like the authors had read this forum and picked out a selection of our more memorable incidents, included a few things from other books, added a cast of international...
Both trailers look fantastic. Well done, David, for making a trailer. I’m impressed. Your explanations remind me of a recently published fiction book about the camino called Two Steps Forward by Graeme Simsion and Anne Buist. Not the best book I’ve ever read about the camino but you might find...
Was asking myself a similar question today. Why am I thinking of doing another camino next year when there are many beautiful long distance walks in my own country? Still haven’t answered myself. o_O
