I am lucky enough not to be a sufferer from either (sciatica, weak knees, plus a stroke a few years ago is enough, thanks ).
But my son, who walks and cycles a whole lot, came down with plantar whosiwotsits last year, and he swears by his Nike air something shoes.
In looking for them...
Oh, I'm sure I NEVER said that, Keith. :p
But, likewise, I'm disappointed not to be meeting YOU. Do you have any walking plans in England for later in the year? I'm thinking of Glastonbury to Avebury, maybe...
Buen Camino.
Re. Unadara's comment above, about the pope calling prayer being a 'conversation with God':
When a muslim prays, the first physical movement is to put both hands up to the ears., palms forward.
For many this is an automatic gesture - one day I suddenly realised it's supposed to remind us that...
As someone who hasn't yet walked the Camino Santiago de Compostella, perhaps I'm being presumptuous in attempting an answer? But 'Camino' means 'way', or 'path', and I've been on a personal - though guided - path for the past 14 or so years.

(The decision to do it wasn't mine, but that of the guy who's been in charge of my life's direction for the past x years.)
If I get an...
Well, Allan - we'll most likely do some smaller pilgrimages in England -and maybe abroad (?) this summer.
My 'Camino' this year is apparently about learning to go with the flow ...
Our walk to St Albans (not) is now up on the website - jamilla-walking.tumblr.com/
Oh dear! After my saying Jamilla was cute, I'm having to eat my words.
She stumbled towards the first day on our training walk to St Albans and a 'fix' proved not to be so. Second day out and she was lurching like a drunkard.
Reluctantly, I've decided she needs a better wheel base and I don't...
"Saint-Jacques La Meque" - is indeed a very funny film.
In reality, there ARE muslims who do this pilgrimage and, in a Sufi kind of way it's like a pilgrimage to Mecca. Or, rather, like the earliest pilgrimages to Mecca used to be.
