What do you wish you had worried less about?

I honestly wish that I'd worried a bit more about my footwear. I bought a pair of low ankle boots, thought I'd broken them in enough, but by Puente la Reina, my heels looked like raw meat. Thankfully, there was Caminoteca back in Pamplona (which, unbelievably, is open on Sunday!!) and I...

    Attending Sunday Mass

Just a. note.....I found that Mass in Portugal on Sunday was generally in the evening. You may find something earlier in the day, but it seemed that the Portuguese were not inclined to early Mass on the weekend.

    The Laundromat is my friend

When I walked solo in 2019, I sometimes stayed in a small hotel and would find a laundromat. It was so fun!! I would meet the local Spaniards and chat - really got to use my Spanish and found some wonderful recommendations from them for restaurants or markets. I became quite adept at how to...

What food did you ENJOY on your Camino(s)?

The reds in Rioja, pulpo (just doesn't taste the same in the US), manchego, and all the ways they do garbanzo bean stew....just makes my mouth water thinking about it!

    Padrón Peppers!!!!

You can also order them from tienda.com but they are seasonal, so not always available. I bought a couple bags - fried one and froze the other for later. They were delish with a bit of sea salt on them.....also with a nice crisp Rosado wine.

Bedbugs confirmed, Albergue Monte Irago, Foncebadón

No - it's not the big modern one....that one is after the descent. It is the hippie-ish one in Foncebadon. I hated that place, but my daughter thought it was so cool. I thought it was dirty and overcrowded.

Eating vegan diet on the Camino

Thanks, Mike....I'm figuring vegetarian is better.

Eating vegan diet on the Camino

I eat a plant based diet - no meat, no fish, no dairy, no eggs. Will I be able to sustain that while walking the Camino? I have read that the markets will have fresh vegetables, fruits and beans (canned), but that means I will likely have to find albergues where I can cook. Does anyone know...

    Eating in Roncesvalles

It doesn't appear that the accommodations (except Casa Sabina and La Posada) provide any type of meal (dinner or breakfast). Where does a pilgrim get food in Roncesvalles? Is it a scramble to get any sustenance in the morning or is there a bar/cafe/restaurant after Roncesvalles?

Food and snacks to carry along....

Thanks, everyone! I always take extra munchies along while backpacking - but there are NO places to eat where we go. So a stash will be useful, then!!

Food and snacks to carry along....

Is it wise to stock up on some pieces of fruit, snack bars, crackers, what-have-you, for each day's walk? Or there enough places to take R&R that will have tapas and/or small plates?
