Hurricane Harvey - Prayers for members from SE Texas

Thank you. I am in north Texas - about 6 hours north of the worst of it. I've been watching The Weather Channel since yesterday. I hope all those in harm's way evacuated when they could.

    Modesty on the Camino

I understand that nudity is viewed differently in some parts at Europe than in the USA and I understand "custody of the eyes" that has been discussed here before; but, geez, some things can't be un-seen!

    Pilgrims beware of ear worms!

Oh my! When I saw the thread title all I could think of was the Twilight Zone episode from years ago where the man had an earwig stuck in his ear. It ate it way all the way through his head and came out his other ear. Abba is a prime contender for songs that get stuck in my head. Maybe...

    Sheet of plastic for beds?

I just bought several yards of the soft 1443R Tyvek to use a a sheet. Did you leave yours flat or did you make it into a fitted sheet? I understand that if I sew it, I need to use long stitches so it doesn't weaken the material and cause it to tear along the stitching. Thanks Falcon 269, Judy

    Blog platform suggestions?

Check out www.trailjournals.com. The description says "Backpacking Journals & Photos from Long Distance Hikers". The top left corner has links to various hikes. Though they are primarily in the US, the Camino and the Coast to Coast (UK) are listed. Several people have started their 2016...

Shells - where can they go?

Your English is better than some Americans I heard on TV this morning.

    Training from a flat place

How much does it usually cost to buy a cup of ice? If there is no set cost, what is an appropriate amount to offer? Thanks

    Twitter names

I've just found the Periscope app which is associated with Twitter. You can broadcast your video live and anyone from around the world with the app can watch it real time. It would be fun to see the live videos from people walking the camino or interacting with others in the albergues. I've...

What do you talk about..or not on your Camino?

At work we had to take a 500 question survey and each person's propensities were presented in a four quadrant graph. Each quadrant was assigned a color and most people have some color in each section - some sections more than others. The person who is primarily Red is only interested in the...

What do you talk about..or not on your Camino?

Probably more like a "Hairy eyeball" that Icacos mentioned for me. o_O (Although I could buy an actual Goofy hat and wear it when it's cool. That would be fun!)

What do you talk about..or not on your Camino?

You may not be confident with your spoken English; but, your written English is perfect. It would be fun to practice my Spanish while walking (I'm half way through Duolingo) and also help others with their English.

What do you talk about..or not on your Camino?

I read on another thread here that identifying oneself as being from the US can be enough to start conversations that I hope to stay away from. I'm not a good debater and when a person is passionate about their stand, I prefer not to make a fool of myself, especially after a few "vasos de vino...

What do you talk about..or not on your Camino?

Hi William. I agree with Doug. I'll be looking for 5 weeks of quiet introspection and general light conversation with the others I meet along the way. I plan to walk right before the next US presidential election. I may have to consider Laura's idea of putting a Canadian flag on my pack...
