On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 11.0

My daughter taking a break somewhere near Contamine-Sarzin on Via Gebennensis in May 2022. The bench (le Banc du Pèlerin) had been put there in 2016, but the colors of it acted as a very actual reminder to pray for peace in Ukraine.

Chanaz, France, Via Gebennensis July 2023. The hanging umbrellas did not really help. It was well over 30 degrees Celsius that day.

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 10.0

Araules, France, getting close to Le Puy. This was my 12th day alone on Via Gebennensis and I had seen or interracted with such few people that at this point I was talking to animals.

July 23, Faramans on the route from Geneva to le Puy. I remember this morning so well, a thunderstorm was brewing but I still so enjoyed walking because for once there were no hills for a while.

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 10.0

Via Gebennensis, July 2023. This church (st Andrew’s in La Côté-Saint-André) had all their statues in the realistic size. When I first stepped in from the bright sunlight I thought the church had lots of other visitors. Nope, I was alone.

    Where do ( did ) you walk ( locally ) in 2023?

This walk made me quite serious. We have not learned too much about the history, have we? My walk followed the St James Way near Ulm Germany and went by an old fortress (built in the 19th century) and it was used as a concentration camp for political prisoners in the 1930s. The foggy weather...

Last week in France, some time after the Swiss-French border. It felt like a miracle. To be allowed to walk again. Mercy and grace. So thankful!

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 9.0

My mood today calls for this selfie from Jakobsweg, Germany 2017. After four years with zero Camino life I am finally somewhat hopeful that finally, later this month, I might make it on the Way (via Jacobi+ the beginning of Via Gebennensis) for a week or so. However, my body is currently...

A walk in the woods in the pale, pale winter light, just before it got dark. Gütersteiner waterfalls, near Bad Urach, Germany.
