    A busy April?

It would be sad to think most people skip the Meseta. I found it a time for introspection and there was a quiet beauty to it.

You can invite a companion on Camino, but you can't make them walk (in preparation)!

We’ll, of course, you can have her carry the pack to start with and as a way of limiting what she brings…and then if problems develop- put a tag on that thing and send it!
  3. Richmond Gardner

You can invite a companion on Camino, but you can't make them walk (in preparation)!

She can leave the entire snack pack behind, as there are stores in Spain. As she seems worried about hydration and electrolytes, there are lightweight, small powdered packages that you can add to water bottles. Can you share your packing list with her, just to give her a blueprint for success...

How do you count your caminos?

You forgot to mention your umbrella 😊

    Woman Traveling solo

Apparently, Orrison closes on October 15… so Borda perhaps?
  6. Richmond Gardner

    Woman Traveling solo

Orrison may be closing around that time, so that needs to be checked. Otherwise, October is a wonderful month to walk. Still, plenty of people without a bed race… If the OP is looking for some cultural info about sites not to miss, I believe the Brierley guide will have a synopsis on some...

The “new normal” isn’t necessarily bad

People have a habit of defending the fort they have made

    August heatwave on camino

Understanding is a fairly easy math conversion. I understand that Celsius is the rule and have no problem with that…

    August heatwave on camino

Just checking the 10 day weather forecast in Salas, which is day two for most people. Very pleasant…highs in the 70’s and low 80’s. Good choice!

Albergue idea - group snorers together, away from non-snorers

Plus effective segregation would require a level of honesty and self-knowledge not always found in humans. It wouldn't take much to make a mockery of the effort. A lot of gas being wasted on this topic. AND, think of who would willingly sign up for a sleepless night....I just can't picture it.

    Luggage Transport - Why?

    I may resemble that person😂

    Luggage Transport - Why?

Good for you @quahog. Walking a Camino at an advanced age and with respiratory issues is an achievement. Many would not attempt it. Congratulations on pursuing your passion

    Luggage Transport - Why?

Turtles unite! Free to make spontaneous choices and no one to negotiate with… sounds like heaven to me

    Efrén González QR code

I am reminding myself to be respectful … but, people seeking to make a living in this way bother me. If you are operating a drone near me - I leave. You are interfering with my peaceful experience and the commercial aspect…don’t get me started. I don’t actually think they know how offensive...

    Toilet paper on the camino

This is in agreement with @dougfitz, to be clear
  17. Richmond Gardner

    Toilet paper on the camino

As toilet paper is being deposited, all that’s missing is a plastic trowel in your pack to bury the evidence. They are lightweight and allow you to follow the basic rule to “leave no trace”.
  18. Richmond Gardner

John Brierley is seriously ill - an invitation to send messages of thanks and support.

I am sad to see this message, but thankful that you shared it. I did send Mr. Brierley an email to thank him for his life and work.

What to do and not to do in a Refugio/Albergue

Wow! A nights inconvenience for everyone but you…and the justification is that you disappear? Perhaps camping would be a better alternative for you. As @trecile has stated, you are surely enraging numerous pilgrims. An of course, the vibrate feature on your phone is an obvious solution

    Quirky Museums on the Camino

A most unusual museum in Mazarife, on the Frances. A former employee of the telephone company put this together and he was charming, very proud of his efforts. I highly recommend a visit
